Looking for a Particular Post

I have a strange request and I’m not sure if you’ll be able to help me with this. I have a friend who is expecting, and she needs help with names. And I actually think that I’ve seen JUST the post on your site…except that I can’t find it. I’ve looked everywhere. I’m starting to wonder if maybe I’m imagining it or if the names I’m thinking of were perhaps in a comment thread, in which case I have no hope at all in finding it. Let me tell you what I do know.

The names were part of a large (4 or 5 children) sibling group. All of the names were very very unusual. Although I can’t remember them exactly a good example would be something like:

Meadowlark Allytria
Calendula Frost
Ellamina Fortula

etc. They were very feminine sounding and were quite nature-oriented. I also remember that I came across the question/comment (more and more I’m thinking it was a comment, now) whilst reading the archives, so it was probably pre 2011.

I was hoping that perhaps with SUCH odd names something would have stuck in your mind. Or maybe in a reader’s mind? You could certainly post this question if you think it would help.

Good idea to post the question! Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I have been reading this blog for a long time and when I read the question today, this post was the first one I thought of too. I remembered the name Holiday and it sounded like it could be the one the poster is looking for!

One way to search might be to search for the word “fifth” or “sixth” or “fourth” in Swistle’s search bar. It’s likely used in a post to say “this will be our sixth baby!” but still unique enough to pare down search results handily.

Doing my own search that way, I found these. Are any of them the winner?

You can also try, using Google, searching the site using some applicable keywords. (To do that also enter in the search box “site:swistle.com”; you can search any individual site that way by entering the site’s address after “site:” like I showed.)

On a related note Swistle, I was wanting to re-read your more column-like posts lately (how to choose between two finalists particularly) and discussion posts (list all androgynous names GO) etc. On the old site there was a big list on the sidebar, but on this one there’s not. Any chance you could sticky or put a link to that list somewhere?

It got too big—it wasn’t practical to keep them all in the sidebar anymore. I haven’t come up with another solution, though, either. Some of the new ones I’m tagging “reference”—but I’ve done that for…very few so far. I don’t think of it until later when I’m looking for it!

How about another tab at the top after “send us a question?” You could either add a page listing the links or direct the link a separate post that contains all the links. I don’t know how hard the site is to modify, but that list would come in mighty handy for me as Nanowrimo approaches! And also because I’m pregnant.

I think these are all things that would be nice to have, but I can’t picture DOING them. Going through hundreds and hundreds of posts and figuring out which ones belong in a reference list is the most overwhelming part to me.

Thank you everyone! I did carefully read through the posts and the comment lists but none of the suggested ones were what I was remembering. However, I did pass everything along because I think a lot of those posts were really helpful. Thank you!
