(My mother-in-law is in town this week, but the babies don’t wait and the questions are coming in faster than I can answer them, so I’ll post some for anyone interested to work on.)

I’m having another bundle of Boy.
we are tossing around these names but nothin’ seems to fit.Son #1 is Jonny Matix. {After my husband Jonathan, and a name of his own}
and we mostly call him Max.Son #2 possibilities.
-Henry Dexter {named for husbands grandfather and my grandfather}
i love Hank. and Dex. Henry is definitely common. but its classic.-Jasper Dee {a name of his own, and Husbands father}
I like that he’d share his Dads initials. and have a name all his own with a family name.
We originally got Jasper from a Western my husband and I both love. Now every time we mention Jasper, Twilight is brought up. Its kind of annoying but really we still love the name.Those are the top two but we’ve also toyed with Dexter Dee, or Hendrix Edwin {his own name, and my dads name}
I know I still have sometime to find it…but its still tough. I’d love for some feedback.I wanted to ask about baby name wizard. Is it just a book full of baby names? I have a few of those and havent found them helpful. Whats so great about name wizard.
anyways thanks for your help!!!
Since your first son is called by his middle name, I like that with Henry Dexter, you would consider calling him Dex. Henry is fairly common, but has been since, what, the 14th century? Fine, upstanding name in my opinion, one that is on my own list. :]
And if you really love Jasper, go for it! The Twilight connection will fade over time, and I bet plenty of people would just go “Huh?” if you always followed up “His name is Jasper” with “Not after the Twilight books.”
Henry and Jasper are both good choices. I lean to Jasper.
I like Henry Dexter because it fits with your 1st son’s name best imo. I think of Casper the ghost when I hear Jasper. Sorry, to be so blunt…if you love the name though, then go for it!
Is Jonny the first son’s given name (that is, not “Jon Matix” but “Jonny Matix?” If so, then I think it would be nice for the second boy to have a first name that could be a nickname in and of itself as well. For example, “Hank Dexter” and call him “Dex.” Jonny and Hank. Max and Dex.
Or how about Eddie Dexter (after father Edwin and then his own name)? Jonny and Eddie, Max and Dex.
Henry Dexter or Hendrix Edwin.
I love that Dexter and Hendrix have ‘x’ just like Max.
Um, The Baby Name Wizard is SO much more than just a book with a bunch of baby names. It can help you find the style of names that you like, and it can give you a good (realistic) idea of the name in today’s society (popularity, similar names, etc.). You need to read it if you haven’t! Most of the people who loves baby names have it–my first copy is totally dog-eared and very well worn. Oh, and I vote for Jasper!
I like Henry Jasper :) I also like Henry Dexter. Good luck choosing :)
I like Henry Dexter nn Dex, very cute. Also love the name Jasper which could possibly lend itself to the nn Jax. A recent name update used the name Jasper with the intention of using Jack as a nn, so I don’t think Jax is that far off. And as far as the Twilight connection, I think that will definately fade. I am a fan of those books and that did not immediately pop in my mind.
I like Henry Dexter too. Goes great with your son’s name.
And like above, Jasper reminds me of Casper.
I thought the Baby Name Wizard was much more interesting than other baby name books, because it categorized types of names and had sibling suggestions, nicknames, and alternative spellings. If anything, try to check it out from your library just to get an idea of how it is set up.
Henry Dexter! The middle name Dee sounds a bit feminine to me – maybe because I have only heard it used for a girl before. But that’s just my opinion.
Henry Dexter is definitely my favorite, It has a great flow, and sounds smashing with brother Jonny Matrix. Best of luck!
