Baby Boy or Girl, Sibling to Darsie and Elise

Shannon writes:

We have two girls, Darsie and Elise, and we’re expecting a third child. We have a boy name that we have had picked out since before Darsie – Robert, but we are totally stumped on girls names. We want something that goes with Darsie and Elise (dubbed Robdar and Elrob while waiting to know their sexes), obviously. I like two syllable names but am not really picky. Nothing too modern and popular – no Bailey, McKenna’s, etc.

Pardon me for listing and leaving, but there is a 2-year-old who will be recharged and ready to destroy my house again soon.

I always forget about the name Clara. Then I see it on someone’s list and then I remember how much I like it! Darcie, Elise, and Clara.

I really like Mira (meer-ah) too! Darcie, Elise, and Mira.

My sister is Lindsey (not Lindsay), so I have to say I like that one as well… Darcie, Elise, and Lindsa/ey.

What about Marin? I came across that in a book I’m reading right now (as a character name) and instantly fell in love with it. But, I most likely would never use it (though I love love it), because I have a sister named Mary. And for me that is just too close. (Do not really want a child named after/close to this particular sister.) Good luck Shannon!!

I like the Camille suggestion from above, and Swistle’s suggestion of Mira and Celeste. I think a name ending in something other than and “ie” sound or the “ise” sound would be good to keep them different. A couple other suggestions:

    Greta
    Lena
    Nora
    Megan
    Kathleen
    Kara
    Jocelyn
    Violet
    Charlotte
    Stella
    Danielle
    Tara
    Margot
    Gretchen

I find it hard to come up with the right style, because Darsie seems like a more modern punchy spelling but Elise seems more demure and classic. Aside from no Bailey’s and McKennas, are you looking for more of the old fashioned feel or the original feel?

Namipedia is a good source for finding what other people have named siblings of Darsie (Darci / Darcy / Darcie) and Elise. Xanthe jumped out in a really good way. It is pronounced “ZAN-thee”. Staci is another one that shares the S and long E sound in both your daughters’ names.

Darsie, Elise and Xanthe would be wonderful.

I know the ending is repetitious, but Marie immediately comes to mind. Come to think of it, the endings look alike with Darsie and Marie but don’t sound alike so I think it’s ok. Cecily also immediately comes to mind. I was thinking Felicity too, and I see someone else already posted it.

    Darsie, Elise, Marie
    Darsie, Elise, Cecily
    Darsie, Elise, Felicity

I like all 3 sets. Good luck.

Darcie, Elise, and Molly seem like a great trio to me. What about:

    Bridget
    Emma
    Lena / Lina
    Noelle
    Sasha
    Vivian
    Nora
    Willa
    Lily
    Mia
    Kira / Kyra
    Tess / Tessa
    Julia
    Paige

Any you like? I think Noelle works especially well. Darsie, Elise, and Noelle. I also think Kira sounds great!

I like Cora or Nora, something of that style. A different ending than your other girls names.

Nora, Darsie and Elise … all have sort of the classic feel, but yet are cute and are coming back in popularity… so I think they’re a good fit with each other.

I love the repeating “i”, “s” and “e” in Darsie and Elise.

    What about Maisie?

    I also like:

    Tess/Tessa
    Claire
    Linnea
    Carly
    Lila
    Marissa
    Everly/Everleigh

I like Swistle’s suggestions of Celeste, Lindsay and Susana (though I prefer the sp. Susannah). Suzanne is good, too, if you’d like two syllables.

If you want to echo the ‘ee’ and ‘s’ sounds from Darsie and Elise:

    Lucy
    Josie
    Sadie
    Rosalie

If you want to get away from those:

    Flora
    Heidi
    Pippa
    Chloe

Already suggested names that I second:

    Maisie
    Lily
    Violet
    Willa
    Tessa

I love the name Romy and think it sounds adorable with Darsie & Elise. But, you kind of have an “s” thing going with Darsie & Elise so here are some other suggestions with “s” that I like too:
    Sylvie
    Tessa
    Josie
    Stella
    Ashby
    Sadie
    Good Luck!

Darsie and Elise are names we had in the hopper long before there were ever any babes, so this is soooooo tough. We never imagined three kids but that is what we are having and we are happy, just nameless!

I really like Lucy, Lily, and Clara. Jeff likes names like Stacy, Elizabeth, Ashley, etc..

And I think my hesitation with girl names stems from having two girls and maybe just kind of hoping it is a boy.

I really like the idea of echoing the S/I/E of Darsie and Elise without rhyming.

    What about:
    Rose/ Rosalie/ Rosie
    Sophie
    Lindsey
    Lucy
    Cecily
