My husband and I did not find out the sex of our baby and had NO TROUBLE coming up with a girl’s name. If she is a girl, she will be Olivia Marie Wright. (Marie is a family name on my side.) I am convinced this child, however, will be a boy, because we can’t agree on ANY boy names. The middle name will either be Thomas (my husband’s name) or Mark (my late father’s name). We tend to lean toward mostly classic names, but SEVERAL of those are taken by close friends and we feel…. icky… using a name of a close friend (say, instead of my HUSBAND’S name). Those include: Andrew, Sean (and Shawn, actually), Christopher, Matthew, Michael, James and Brian. We both come from Irish descent, but none of the names we’ve thought of really FEEL like us. Also, any of the -aden names are OUT (Brayden, Aiden, Jayden, Hayden…) Do you have ANY suggestions for Boy Thomas Wright or Boy Mark Wright?
Yes! And here they are:
Alec Thomas Wright
Daniel Thomas Wright
Ethan Thomas Wright
Gavin Thomas Wright
Geoffrey Thomas Wright
Ian Thomas Wright
Jonathan Mark Wright
Kyle Thomas Wright
Mark Thomas Wright
Owen Thomas Wright
William Mark Wright
As I made the list, I was looking for names that went with Olivia Marie—in case you want to use that name for a future daughter. I thought many of them sounded good with either Thomas or Mark. And in fact, you’ll notice I sneaked both of them into one option: Mark Thomas Wright.
Let’s have a poll over to the right. [Poll closed; see results below.]
Poll results (216 votes total):
Alec: 19 votes, roughly 9%
Daniel: 24 votes, roughly 11%
Ethan: 15 votes, roughly 7%
Gavin: 28 votes, roughly 13%
Geoffrey: 5 votes, roughly 2%
Ian: 18 votes, roughly 8%
Jonathan: 10 votes, roughly 5%
Kyle: 10 votes, roughly 5%
Mark: 28 votes, roughly 13%
Owen: 47 votes, roughly 22%
William: 12 votes, roughly 6%

Hi! I just wanted to thank you and all your readers for their help with suggestions for our baby boy… Turns out we didn’t need them since we had a baby GIRL on July 6. Her name is Olivia Marie.
Thank you again!!!
Daniel Thomas Wright is a great combo! I also like William Thomas Wright (WilliaMMark runs together for me.) You might also like Edward, Henry, and Oliver.
Also, Olivia Marie is beautiful!
I am usually partial to Owen but I’m not sure if I care for the adjacent Ws in OWen and Wright. Ditto William.
I voted for Gavin — wonderful name!
How about: Brandon, Liam, Stephen, Charles, Nicholas, Nathan, Benjamin, Lewis, Murphy, Bennett, or Simon?
I voted for Kyle- I think that is a great Irish name that is underused these days.
Declan is my fav. Irish boy’s name of the moment!
Also, love Brandon!
Edward is great with Thomas and Mark!
Liam or Connor also sound good with Wright. I think Wright sounds best with a 2-syllable first name. Mark Wright sounds abrupt. PS. William Mark Wright WMW = cool looking initials!
I like Mark Thomas Wright because you can honor two family members without needing to choose between your husband and father. I also like:
Colin Thomas Wright
Griffin Mark Wright
Kenneth Mark Wright
Kenneth Thomas Wright – little long but I think it works
Morgan Thomas Wright
Patrick Mark Wright
Good luck.
hmmmm. On second thought Patrick Mark does have that repetitive K thing going on at the end. I sort of like the repetition, but others may not.
Good suggestions. Ian, Jonathan, Owen & William are favorites of mine. I think I’m voting for Ian, but I might change my mind in the few seconds it takes me to get over to the poll– I like them all so well.
Here’s my addition: Benjamin would work, too, and it sounds good with both middles.
Benjamin Mark Wright
Benjamin Thomas Wright
Good luck choosing!
I was having trouble deciding between Mark (though I prefer it with a “c”) and Owen, but then read the comments and decided I didn’t like either. Mark Wright is too short, hard sounding, Owen Wright, you get a little tongue tied on the w’s. So while both good names, I don’t think they go with your last name. So, I love Swistle’s first pic of Alec. I also want to suggest Nolan. That is a favorite of mine that I think fits your criteria. Alec or Nolan both sound great to me! Good Luck!
I just wanted to note for everyone that the W in Wright is most likely silent, so Owen doesn’t double up. That said, Owen and Olivia were a little matchy for my taste (assuming Olivia will be used later).
Someone suggested Patrick Mark Wright. I don’t love that (too many hard consonants), but I do love Patrick Thomas Wright. I know a Patrick Thomas, and its a great name.
Other suggestions people had that I liked:
Nolan
Griffin
Collin
Connor
Garrett
Gavin…
Has anyone suggested Timothy yet?
How about Shane? Shane Thomas Wright.
Lots of good suggestions; I’ll add Seamus.
This is not a “classic” suggestion but covers the Irish…& I saw someone else mentioned it- “Liam”.
Of course, I am partial because I have a Liam (Paul) but I think Liam Thomas Wright sounds really good…also like Owen :)
Assuming Olivia Marie would be used later, and that this is indeed a boy, I favor using Mark as the middle name, so your children have a common middle initial of M.
I like siblings having something in common in their names (I like Olivia and Owen, but know I’m in the minority liking matching first initials).
So perhaps Olivia Marie, and _________ Mark as your choices for this little one.
Timothy Mark
Alexander Mark
Daniel Mark
Joshua Mark
I was also going to suggest Seamus, my favorite Irish name. I also love Timothy and Patrick. good luck!
I thought that I would throw Reid Thomas Wright into the mix. Ried Wright sounds like a cool kid. As does Adam Thomas/Mark Wright.
I like Ian Thomas Wright or Gavin Mark Wright on their own and to go with Olivia. Lots of great suggestions above as well – like Colin and Kyle!
i have two boys, josh alexander and ellis murray. My end name is also wright. My husband is called kyle and i think its a lovely name, but didnt want my son to be called it as it gets confussing so we would end up with kyle jr. Pregnant with 3rd boy and i love names – logan, louie, lewis, harvey, kye, jayce and jake. I change my mind from day to day, and thot for you, my boys was called harvey and findlay right up til min they was born, then i changed my mind.
hahahha!
Hello, my name is Patrick Thomas Wright and I found these comments and post from simply typing in my full name on google..
Go with Patrick Thomas Wright =D
Your son won’t regret it either
