That’s hard to choose. I picked Faith – but could just as easily have chosen Verity or Grace. I like Amity, but I immediately think of Amityville Horror, so I’d never name my child that.

I do love Amity, but I do associate it with Amityville Horror. What a shame.

I chose Honor – not something I’d use, but I love it! It’s fresh being too out there, me thinks.

I know a Chasity and Temperance (mother and daughter). Cute, but a bit heavy with the connotations, you know?

I voted for Verity. The sound and aesthetics are beautiful, and it’s not so connotation-heavy like Mercy and Patience are. Honor and Amity are beautiful, too!

I love Grace but I feel like it’s too popular, something I’ve heard too often. But the meaning is so lovely, it would definitely be my second.

I voted for Verity for the same reasons as the anonymous poster – it seems less connected to the virtue. The same can be said with Constance – I associate Constance more as a name than a virtue.

Peace- I know! I had it on the original list, but then found it listed as “not an actual virtue name.” Because, I guess, peace is more like a state of being? like happiness? while Honor and Verity are virtues? I don’t know. Virtue names are tricky.

Every girl named Chastity that I’ve ever known wasn’t chaste. Just an observation! I think some virtue names are just too hard to live up to, so I like the ones like Verity and Prudence that somehow seem removed from that. I guess it’s a difficult line to tread!

I strongly dislike virtue names (except for Joy and Grace which I think have made the transition to names pure and simple). I’d hate to be called any of them. It’s like chosing an ideology for your child, an ideology that may come in sharp contrast with the adult he or she becomes.

I, personally am not a fan of virtue names either. So, I voted for Grace because I don’t always think of it as a virtue name, but just a regular name. I do kind of like Chastity though not sure how to spell it!

I love the name Honor, and would use it if my husband did not refuse because of the “on her” comments teenage boys would make. I also LOVE Prudence, but my husband hates it.

It is hard to choose – I like all of them but I went with Grace because although I like the idea of a name like Verity or Mercy, I like a name to sound like a name, whatever that means.
