I’ve been emailing back and forth with a blogger who’s expecting in November, and we want to post her question here without compromising anonymity or blowing the surprise on her own blog. So here’s the basic question, boiled down to the bare essentials: What’s a good middle name for Audrey?
The surname is two syllables starting with B.
The parents like:
- less-common names
- traditional spellings for names
- older names (Eleanor, Pearl, Beatrix)
- movie names
- British/Irish names
Go!
How about…
Samantha
Grace
Christine
Lenore?
Off the top of my head:
Lorna
Cora
Imogen
Meghan
Eileen
Pippa
Iona
Isolde
Siobhan/Siubhan
Elspeth/Elsbeth
Moira
Jean
Some Irish or Irish-sounding names to consider…

Genevieve
Maeve
Cecelia
Julia
Caoimhe (pron. Keeva)

And I think Audrey lends itself beautifully to any of the trait names (Hope, Grace, Joy ect.)
My favourite is from the first post, Audrey Lenore. It just flows so beautifully. Plus, L names are the big thing (so says Baby Name Wizard) so it would be wise to use this classic before the rest of the world does.
Love Audrey too, but there’s a bunch of them around here in the under 3 crowd.
Audrey Faye, Audrey Caroline, Audrey Simone or Audrey Annabella would be my picks…
My grandma, age 80, is Audrey Jean.
I have always liked Audrey Lynn
But others to consider:
Audrey Claire
Audrey Rose
Audrey Elizabeth
If you want to go with something a little different, may I suggest Audrey Pryne? Pryne is Hester’s last name in The Scarlet Letter, and I have always thought it would be a lovely girl’s name.
We wanted to honor my Irish heritage for my daughter’s name. Rosalind is the family name, but we shortened to Rose. I think Audrey Rose sounds great!
I think that Audrey matches with a lot of different types of names…
Audrey Blake
Audrey Morgan
Audrey Lane
Audrey Camille
Audrey Elise
Audrey Margot
Moira
Faith
Candland
Rose
Maeve
Sylvia
Lorna
JANE! Totally Jane!
Love it. I ADORE the name Audrey too.
I like both Audrey Claire and Audrey Rose but if you wanted something more Irish,
Audrey Colleen or
Audrey Eileen or even
Audrey Erin are nice,too.
Audrey is one of my most favourite names! I think it matches well with any number of middle names.
I loved the sound of Audrey Mae (“Mae” is my middle name so I’m a tad bias, but I think the -ae ending is just so pretty).
I think my suggestion would be, pick a one-syllable middle name. I think they sound best with Audrey…but really, almost anything works!
My favourites from above:
Audrey Mae
Audrey Claire
Audrey Rose
Audrey Jane
Audrey Catherine B – this seems perfect imo!
Also:
Audrey Roslyn
Audrey Eloise
Good luck!
I like the sound of a one syllable mn.
Audrey (2), mn (1), ln (3). Maybe Brooke or Jane?
Audrey Lillian?
Audrey Camille?

Audrey Violet?

Audrey Evelyn?
Audrey Josephine?
Audrey Tamara?

Good luck!
