Baby Boy Steven Walker Jordan III

I need a great name for a third boy
steven walker jordan, III
dad goes by walker, which i LOVE
g-dad goes by Steve
i love Tripp but a close family friend already used that.
Is Walk a strech?
any idea are welcome.

I don’t think Walk is a stretch, but it doesn’t seem like it helps much, either: having a Walker and a Walk is like having a Steven and a Steve.

You have such a great last name, I’m tempted to suggest using it. Like, could you call him Jordy? But then you’d have Jordy Jordan when you needed to use his full name. That’s…not ideal.

Other common nicknames for a III are Trey (from the French “tres” for three, which is pronounced roughly like the English word “tray”) and Trace (from the Spanish “tres” for three, which is pronounced roughly like the English word “trace”). I particularly like Trace, and even more with your last name: I think Trace Jordan sounds like a really cool guy.

Name update! Jennifer writes: “Just wanted to let you guys know we chose Walk. thanks so much for all of your help!”

I like Steven Walker like Jan said — I once babysat a kid who went by John Walker.

Thinking outside the box — how about Sawyer? It’s got the S and the W in it, so it sort of combines the 2 first names?

I also know a family who does the equivalent of Steven Walker for their son. Another family I know who has a III used a portion of the middle name. The name is Bernard Allen – grandfather is Bernie, dad is Allen and grandson is Len/Lenny (from Allen). I don’t know how that would work in this case, though – Ven? Even (Evan)? Ker?

I do like Trace, though. :)

I like both Trace and Sawyer, but just wanted to point out that there is a rather crazy character named Tracy Jordan on the show 30 Rock. It’s a bit of a stretch, but thought you’d want to be aware.

Do you like Steven? Even though the grandfather uses it, you could certainly use it for your son, especially since you’re not in the same household.

Trace gets my vote, hands down.

Trace Walker sounds great, plus the three men in your life would be Steve, Walker and Trace – for three guys sharing the same name, they’d have remarkably distinct short forms. I think that’s a nice quality in a family name.

oh- if it helps, our last name is pronounced like Jurdan-like “word” instead of the usual Jordan as in Michael. someone mentioned Beau as a nickname for a third-anyone ever heard of that?

A friend’s husband is called Mike and their son is Michael. It’s worked beautifully. You could call your son Steven because Grampa is Steve.

I do love Trace and Trey. I also wouldn’t rule out Tripp if you love it.
