I need to bring your attention to an Easter Candy Emergency. Are you familiar with THIS sweet gentleman?:
Some of you are not acquainted with this candy. Some of you are acquainted, and as a result are recoiling in horror. Some of you are acquainted and are not at all recoiling, and are instead thinking “Oh thank goodness I am not alone in my perversity!”
For those who haven’t been introduced. Brach’s Marshmallow Easter Hunt Eggs have dense marshmallow filling, and are coated in the same sugary layer that makes up the outer part of jellybeans. I am not going to try to explain why I eat them. It makes no sense: I don’t much like marshmallows, and I don’t much like jellybeans (except the Mike & Ike jellybeans, which are terrific). But every year I buy a bag of these marshmallow/jellybean hybrids.
EXCEPT THIS YEAR. Because they are nowhere to be found. I didn’t realize the situation until this morning when I was texting with my friend Morgan; she was checking in to make sure I was all set for what we both agree is the best candy holiday of the year. She mentioned those marshmallow eggs, and I suddenly realized I didn’t have any, and since I’d basically bought one of everything at Target I was pretty sure they must not have been there, and anyway one thing led to another and Morgan and I set out separately for opposite ends of town, sending text messages back and forth as we tried store after store and found no marshmallow eggs.
I have an email in to the company asking for more information, but in the meantime: have you seen marshmallow eggs anywhere this year?
Edit: I have an update! But please do continue to leave Marshmallow Egg Sightings in the comments section for the sake of others who are still questing.
Hi Swistle. I don’t eat this kind of candy but I did notice that a store I like had a similar item https://www.vermontcountrystore.com/2-bags-marshmallow-hiding-eggs/product/H4339 which appears to be out of stock.
I just saw them last night! They have them at Harps. I don’t know if you have that grocery store chain or if you can order from them? I seriously considered buying them and then decided not to and now I regret it.
It looks like they have some on Amazon for a million dollars. There are also some at Walgreens in my neck of the woods.
I have never heard of these things! I wonder if they exist in my city/state? Well. Now I am seriously considering marching my daughter outside and over to our neighborhood Walgreens to find them. Perhaps I will wait until the driving rain stops. Perhaps not, this seems urgent.
Oh these are my favorite! I can only ever find them at CVS or Walgreens. My mom found some at Fred’s once. Now I’m off to hunt for them!
I love those, marshmallowy goodness. Oddly, I detest Circus Peanuts, those orange ones, those are marshmallowy yuckyness.
A few jobs ago I worked in retail and the candy came in boxes that said: Candy is delicious food, eat some everyday. So, I try to!
Not these but we DID discover Hershey’s chocolate covered marshmallow eggs this year and YUM!
They are at Walgreens in Illinois! I have the same love/disgust relationship with them.
My husband loves them, but eats a few and then we ditch the rest of the bag. :-/ MY problem this year is that I can’t find dark Hershey foil eggs. Milk, coated, extra-creamy, even cookies-and-cream, but no dark.
I’ve seen this at Menards stores in Indiana.
Menards in Minnesota has them too!
no, nope, could not eat these
I love marshmallow candy, but loathe jellybeans. I’m not sure what to make of these. I suppose I would try some if someone else had them. I’ve never noticed them in a store before. My favorite Easter candy BY FAR is Cadbury’s Mini Eggs. If I don’t pre-portion, I can eat much too much of a bad in a sitting.
My favorite too-imagine my delight/horror when I rediscovered the bag I had hidden from myself in the cup holder of my car. And then got stuck in traffic. It got interesting.
I can’t quite imagine eating these, but curiosity compelled me to check the on line inventory at my local Walgreens. (Walgreens and CVS have by far the best candy selection here.). It’s in stock. Amazon Prime also has it, but the price seems high to me.
That’s not a candy I would find myself buying willingly. Now, the Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs….can’t get enough of those things!
Yes! Everybody knows that holiday Reese’s cups have the best ratio of peanut butter to chocolate.
I’ve never seen these before!! I do feel it is now my duty to check my local stores for them though. And also to try them. For science.
These are disgusting- and I am on my second bag this year. For those in the South- Publix has them.
I love these things. GREAT marshmallow candy from when I was a kid, and I’m now 68. Getting harder every year to find them. Only found four 9oz bags (not individually wrapped) at Walgreens I Rowlett TX. I’ve since seen them online at specialty candy shops with a price of $9.99 and higher, plus a heavy shipping fee. Next year… hitting Walgreens very early and buying all I can find. Sorry folks, I just love these little treats and will buy all I find and store them as my ultimate survival energy boost food.
When my Granmother used to buy them for me when I was little I didn’t like them. Now I love them. Here in Orlando they are usually available at Wallgreens. I didnt think about them until two days before Easter(Good Friday) checked and of course they were out. I didn’t know that CVS carried them. So if course I had to have them and I went online to Amazon and paid about $7.35 for a 9oz bag,and I ordered 3 bags. YIKES ! ! Next year I’ll check a month a head of Easter. Too bad they do t make them in another form all year round.
Hate these things. They were definitely available this year in Ottawa, Canada though, because I watched in horror as my stepmother served them to my kids!
Looked high and low for my favorite Easter candy. Live in Phoenix and found 4 bags at Walgreens. I bought 2 and may go back and buy 2 more ! Maybe . . . .
Checked at CVS, Bashas,Albertson’s, Target, Walmart, and Fry’s. None of those stores carried the marshmallow eggs. Getting harder and harder to find.
My very favorite Easter candy. Found it on Amazon last year, but out of stock everywhere this year. I hope they haven’t been discontinued.
I’m as horrified as can be!! This is 2023 and this candy is absolutely not available. Devastated to say the least.
Let’s ALL boycott Brach’s, lol.
I have have searched high and low for them in louisiana close to Shreveport, Bossier Louisiana
If anyone finds then close to.my location please inform me
I absolutely love these. I haven’t been able to fine these in the past. This is my favorite. I wish they were still available to buy today. My childhood of memories and so tasty I really wish they would bring them back. I don’t know why they stopped making these anyway.
