Owl Quilt; Practical Bath Mat; Your Duet With Jerry Seinfeld

I’ve had my eye on a quilt at Target for ages.

This quilt.

Today I saw clearance stickers dotted all over that department, but I didn’t get all excited because I hadn’t seen clearance stickers there before. (That is, it was likely to be a 15% or 30% clearance, and Elizabeth already HAS a quilt so I wouldn’t be able to justify it until 75% off and might as well not even get excited by the first sighting of clearance stickers.)

But then I saw some guy with four quilts in his cart, and that’s an unusual thing to see, so I did a really fast sidle into the aisle: zoooooooop! And the owl quilt WAS 75% off. So I yoinked one into the cart (I resisted the urge to get caught up in the moment and take two or three) and it came home with me. It is adorable. I love it. There are hedgehogs and squirrels and owls and mushrooms and rainbow-striped trees, and the whole thing reminds me of something I might have had on my 1970s childhood bed. (What I actually had on my 1970s childhood bed was a white bedspread covered with little tiny white balls forming boring white patterns. I didn’t like it. Which means in another 25 years I’ll be scouring antique stores for one.)

We needed a bath mat for the downstairs bathroom, a bathroom that is mostly used by the boys. The bath mat goes in the small space between the shower and the toilet. I went with a color that could have been named Pee Yellow. It seemed practical.

I dreamed the other night that ONE OF YOU was singing a duet with Jerry Seinfeld. Jerry was sitting fully-dressed in a bathtub for his part, and YOU were singing your part in an adjacent room, also fully-dressed and looking very pretty standing in a sunbeam. I woke up thinking you would LOVE this story, but then I forgot about it until hours later when I was driving along and suddenly remembered it. But I couldn’t remember any more WHICH OF YOU it was singing with Seinfeld, and that seems like a CRUCIAL ELEMENT of delighting you with this story.

I love that owl quilt, I’ve had my eye on it too. How much is it at 75% off? I don’t have a trip to Target planned but I might have to make an exception if it’s cheap enough.

OMG I want that owl quilt too! It is so cute. God I can’t wait for Target to get to Canada. Summer 2012, baby. I’m holding my breath.

So how long do these sales last? I’ll be in Seattle from Oct 2-7, but it’ll be long over by then, right? *heavy sigh*

I’ve been stalking Target the last few weeks for things to go to 75% off. I ended up with 2 full/queen size comfortors a throw blanket and a throw pillow. I <3 Target clearance!

I am DEFINITELY going to look at 75% off quilts tomorrow. I always think of quilts as something I don’t really need until I pull out the one I do have and realize we’re using it for the 5th time in a week.

All the beds in my grandmother’s house had those white bedspreads with the bumps and I LOVE them.

Carmen- There’s still hope! Sometimes one Target puts things on clearance before another, and the clearance lasts until all the things are gone. So maybe the Target you’re going to will not have sold out of them yet! Or maybe someone will take one home, and not like how it goes with the wall color, and return it the morning of the day you are there!

Stimey- I ALMOST got the turtle one, but couldn’t decide whose bed to get it for, and then I got overwhelmed and didn’t get one at all—but now I think maybe I might need to go back for it!

Chenille – the bedspreads were chenille. I have purchased several at antique stores. I have to tell you — they are SO comfortable. 100% cotton – lightweight, but yet still warm when you need them to be and so, so soft. I even purchased one in pink! They are super-sturdy and wash and dry really well. I encourage all of you to seek one out! You won’t be sorry. :o)

I am SO going to check my Target for that quilt. I have looked at it time and time again. My daughter really has a thing for owls. She has the owl-shaped pillow that matches which was purchased at full price. I was too cheap to buy the quilt though!

We have that quilt, but I loved it so much, I bought it at full price….my daughter has the owl pillow too. You always get the amazing deals! I did get a King sized comforter (Dwell studio) for $22 even though our bed is a Queen sized, i could not pass it up. So it hangs off the ends a bit much. Looks like a fancy hotel bed, though : )

My mom and dad bought matching Target quilts for the girls’ room a few years ago, and they make me happy every day. The ones with the tulips and butterflies…

But I have always wanted one of those white knobbly ones for myself.

We used to have yellow bathmats but after many washings they were coming apart, and you know what color I chose for the new ones? Show-every-single-little-boy-pee-drip WHITE, that’s what. Like an ASS.

Oh it figures that it would go on sale just as we’re getting ready to just think about moving our daughter out of crib. That means there will be none left and it is perfect for her room, with the owls on her wall and whatnot.

If you feel sorry enough for me, I’ll give you my address and I’ll pay shipping…

ohhhh ngghh! I got L that set last year, and I agonized over the quilt or the comforter. I decided on the comforter because I liked it better and the fact that the quilt was a lot more money cinched it for me. But now I find myself wanting the quilllttt.

Our downstairs bathroom also needs a new mat; the aqua one is irretrievably stained. Sadly, I will probably be buying one in brown, as my three year old likes to sit down on the floor and put his underpants back on when he is finished with his morning constitutional.

I’m going to go look at Target too. My husband took all THREE children away so I could actually go to Target and get a coffee and see what the hell I’m doing. We just moved my 2.5 year old to a twin bed and right now she has a Spiderman set on her bed, she’d go nuts for that owl one or really, anything in more muted colors. Thanks!

velocibadgergirl- I have a couple of things I bought before Elizabeth, Just In Case There Was Later A Girl. The way I justified it was by thinking what nice donations they’d be (or gifts for a niece) if there was never a girl.

I’ve been eying (seems like that should by “eyeing” but Mac says no)that same quilt. Ack, we’re completely broke right now! Must. Stay. Away.

Yo-yo Mama- I went back this morning (I wanted a turtle one!) and they were ALL GONE: all the owl ones and all the turtle ones. Yesterday they had like FIVE!

I wish I would’ve looked harder at that quilt! My daughter would have something to replace her 6 year old, many times washed, Snoopy comforter. I did get her the sheet set that matches your quilt for $4.74 and the vehicle sheet set for my son for the same price. L-O-V-E Target clearance!

OMG, I bought that quilt for Ellie. We haven’t put it in her room yet because she still sleeps in a crib. We are transitioning in the next few weeks. I bought it on sale, but not clearance :( And I was just there like 2 hours ago, but hadn’t read this yet. Because if they have one, I could buy it, then return the sale priced one with the receipt. Now I have to go back. My 70’s bed spread was bright yellow with giant daisies and ruffles, in that weird melty fabric.

I chose a white bath mat. Why? Well because it’s for my daughter’s bathroom, who is 2, so I’m thinking Ah she won’t mess it up much. THEN husband apparently decides he likes to POOP in DAUGHTER’S bathroom with his MUDDY BOOTS on. Yeah. I’m still mad about it.
