I keep forgetting to mention I switched back to the old, non-embedded comment form because the new one was being such a witch with a b. So if you’ve been having trouble commenting (and sister, you are NOT ALONE), try it again.
This morning Henry brought me the roll of fishing line to re-roll (I wonder how many hours of my life I’ve spent re-rolling threadlike substances because I can’t seem to get organized about putting them OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN), and he kept stepping on it as I was rolling it so feeling a certain resistance as I pulled was familiar. This is why it wasn’t until the rolling LIFTED THE KITTEN OFF THE GROUND that I realized she’d gotten herself tangled in it. She was tangled in a non-life-threatening way, but I still felt panicked enough to CUT the string off of her rather than spending time untangling her. Ack! Kittens!
This reminded me of once when I got a call at work from someone who said they had a baby fawn in their yard, born with NO LEGS. (And you know where this is going.) They were SO SAD and what could we POSSIBLY do to help this sad, sad little creature? After talking them through it, I had them approach the sad, sad creature and it popped up on all fours ready to bolt. The caller felt pretty silly, but it has given me a good laugh.
Your posts always make me smile, but this one made me laugh out loud. Especially the caption underneath the picture. Oh, and just the sight of a kid with a roll of fishing line or yarn makes me go crazy.
I like your kitty pictures. We can’t have cats (allergies + my husband’s pet preferences…bah) and I so enjoy their cuteness. You could be a pet photographer.ad
Hahahahaha I like that you actually managed to get her off the ground before noticing. :)
Those tragic rerolling accidents…you just never get over the senselessness of them…poor Bonnet (hehe)
Those string accidents can be a real bear. Am willing to donate to the sad legless kitten fund as needed…
Also Erin – ha HA! Classic!
That made me laugh out loud about the kitten getting tangled up. :)
Whenever I’m wrapping a ribbon around a present, my cat, Neo, likes to bite at the end of it. Makes it hard to tie a ribbon when he won’t let go.
*Side note: I know you didn’t ask, but this here is a great site for cleaning up cat messes. I know it works because I’ve used it, and I just had to pass it along. http://www.catsofaustralia.com/urinestainremoval.htm#Recipe0
I have beige-colored carpeting and it doesn’t bleach it. My friend has darker carpeting and she said it didn’t bleach that either. But test it in a small area before-hand. :)
Oh, I laughed and laughed.
Also, new comment form! Works better with the google reader add on that lets me comment right from my reader LIKE I AM DOING RIGHT NOW!
Maybe you should add a couple of pillows to that photo and call it a lair… or maybe a hive. :D
I’m glad your kitten survived with all four legs attached!
Kittyloaf! I love when they sit like that, all “But MOM I have NO PAWS. NO PAWS AT ALL.”
Kitty!
I always have to check once or twice to MAKE SURE that my cat isn’t sticking his head out the door before it closes. My front door tends to slam heavily and so I now have a phobia of his head just POPPING OFF when the door slams.
I hated your comment form for a long time because it only worked in Safari and not Firefox and then one day, voila! it just started working in Firefox. Weird, huh?
