Exactly one month ago today, I spent several minutes searching online to find out when Earth Day was, because I miss it EVERY YEAR. Then, as I was writing it on my calendar, I noticed it was pre-printed on my calendar. Genius.
There are a lot of things I do wr—….well, let’s not use a harsh word like “wrong.” Let’s say instead that there are many situations in which I make choices that would not be at the TIPPY TIPPY TOP of the Environmental Awesomeness List. I occasionally use bleach. I don’t make any particular effort to eat local foods. We have central air conditioning. I drive to Target whenever I feel like it, even though our Targets are 15-35 minutes away. I eat meat, including fast food meat. I buy more stuff than I need.
I have three small areas in which I have made what I think of as Good Environmental Changes: handkerchiefs instead of paper tissues, cloth napkins instead of paper napkins, and reusable pads instead of disposable pads. There are ALWAYS alternatives that are EVEN BETTER (making my own pads out of worn-out clothes, for example, or using clumps of leaves I then compost for the garden), but these are pretty good choices.
In none of these areas am I a zealot: after all, I use paper towels to clean the bathroom because the idea of using a washcloth squicks me out, so I’d be a fine one to start sniffing critically at someone’s box of Puffs Plus. (Plus, we ALSO have a box of Puffs at our house: I wouldn’t hand a guest a handkerchief.) Besides, once I started using these three cloth things, I found I PREFERRED them to the disposable versions, so this makes it difficult to claim Praiseworthy Sacrifice.
NEVERTHELESS. While I am not a zealot, I would call myself an evangelist: I’ve been so happy with these three changes, and so pleasantly surprised by my resulting preference, that I feel like SPREADING THE WORD. I’m willing to put my own money behind it, even.
And so my small contribution to Earth Day is this: eight little packets of earth-lovin’ goodness.
Three packets will contain cloth napkins, nine assorted napkins in each packet.
Two packets will contain four reusable shopping bags each, standing in for cloth handkerchiefs because I searched in several stores and all I could find was patterned bandannas, and then I happened to see a clearance rack of nice reusable cloth shopping bags at Old Navy so I decided to do that instead. Three of the bags in each set are 100% cotton, 15x14x4ish. One of the bags in each set is polypropylene, 12x9x4ish.
Three packets will contain reusable pads: one regular pad, one long pantiliner, and one pantiliner in each set, from my favorite reusable pad source Sugar Monkies (who, by the way, gave me 50% off my order when she heard it was for Earth Day).
I had fun choosing the pads. Here are the three fabrics I chose:
I’m going to mix the patterns in each set of pads, so each set will contain one pad of each fabric.
To enter, leave a comment on this post. You can enter to win just one or just two of the types of packets if you want (like, if you already use cloth napkins you can enter just for the bags and the pads)—just specify in your comment which you’d like to try to win. If you don’t specify, I’ll assume you want to be entered for all three types. U.S./APO/FPO and Canada mailing addresses only. I’ll choose the winners on Sunday, April 25th.
Happy Earth Day!
Edited to add: Also check out Cayt’s reusable pad giveaway!
Good morning – I’m the same way. Good at some things (reusable bags, containers and water bottles)
Really bad about others – disposable diapers!
I want to be better. I really want to try reusable pads once my period starts again. Especially if they do feel nicer than traditional ones. I’m a nursing mom, so I haven’t gotten my period yet.
I use reusable bags and bottles, but I am a paper towel fanatic.
I have a “paperless kitchen” but not a paperless bathroom. That seems like a big leap. I would LOVE all 3 choices, though! @Di, I do disposable diapers, too.
I love using reusable napkins, tissues and bags. I don’t use reusable pads, but I do use a cup. My “napkins” are really just kitchen towels though. heh. I suppose I should make my kitchen towel stash nicer since it was odd handing my IL’s some old diapers and ratty had-since-college towels the other night at dinner. I never think to buy cloth napkins though. I’d love some but when it’s “just us” I tend not to care about the towels! I do love cute shopping bags though, and spend more than I probably should on them. But, they come in handy for EVERYTHING.
Happy Earth Day! I’m not eligible for your giveaway since I live in the UK, but I’ve got a giveaway of cloth pads, inspired by yours, on my blog running until Sunday. Willing to ship anywhere in the world. Cloth pads are awesome, and I love them.
I stopped drinking bottled water. I am really proud of myself because I drank a LOT of it. I am also trying to move to cloth shopping bags because they are fun and much better than the plastic ones.
I want to try the reusable pads!!
This is terrible- but we only started recycling like a year ago. But that said, I buy a lot of my produce from the local Amish?
This comment has been removed by the author.
Our earth-friendly choices are usually more about cost than anything. We buy second hand clothes for the baby or make them ourselves. We don’t use paper towels anywhere in the house. We don’t use bottled water. We bring our own reusable bags to the grocery store. So enter me for all three, ’cause all of them would be useful here….
Oooooh… I would love to get the pads. **Hopes to win!!**
Hooray! I’d love to enter for pads or for napkins. I am overrun with reusable bags, so I’ll leave that draw for others less fortunate!
Let’s see: we recycle, we compost, we use cloth napkins (most of the time), we use cloth grocery bags, we use reusable water bottles, we buy local & organic whenever we can. I think we’re doing okay. I am not ready to try reusable pads. There, I said it. But maybe someday…
Happy Earth Day!
Thanks for this drawing, I would like to try all three. I recycle, but only because the city I live in offers it curbside. I’m a lazy recycler. I would definitely like to start using cloth bags for sure!
I would love any and all please!
Howdy Ho, Swistle, and a Happy Earth Day to you!
I’d love to be entered for all!
Our changes are:
Reusable water bottles
we use SKOY instead of paper towels
I use homemade cleaning products
reusable bags
local meats
we shop thrift and hand me downs.
I am not ready for cloth pads. Not yet. We use half and half disposables (gifts from well meaning family and flushable g diapers.). We recycle. We tried a fledgling CSA share and got almost no produce so we just do farmers’ markets when we can now.
I would like to enter for all three please!! I love my reusable shopping bags. Happy Earth Day!
Yay for give aways! I have the owl pad already. Too cute!
SO, I’ll only the napkins and bags give aways. :)
I would love all three. Always trying to do better.
Happy Earth Day to you!
Tracy B
I would love to try the pads but enter me in all three please.
Oh, I would love either the bags or the pads! I asked for cloth napkins for christmas and ended up with far more than we go through…maybe I need to pay them forward to someone else…
Bags and napkins please!
Happy Earth Day, Swistle!
I’m pretty militant about never taking a plastic bag from a store. I keep re-usable bags in my purse, in my car, in my boyfriend’s car, and at both of our homes.
That said, I still use paper towels as napkins (hang’s head in shame).
I’ve never tried reusable pads before…but what an excellent idea.
Sign me up for all three giveaways.
I have a metric ton of those reusable shopping bags, but somehow have NEVER, EVER used them when shopping. I just don’t ever think about it. This makes me an awful person, doesn’t it?
We recycle, use reusable as much as we can, and buy local! Would love the bags!
Earth Day! Hooray! We belong to a CSA and I do my best to remember my reusable bags when I shop. Wish I used less plastic in my life…that stuff just never goes away. And now I have to research SKOY because I am clueless as to what that stands for.
Thanks for the contest! Fun fun fun!
I recycle and use plastic totes to haul groceries in rather than bags. I do use too much paper stuff though (towels, tissues, pads). Would love to try any of the giveaways!
I would LOVE to try the cloth napkins… I think that’s a big change we could make in our kitchen. I use old rags for all other cleaning, even the bathroom (I have a special stack of ‘bathroom rags’ to lessen my fear of contamination because I’m a weirdo like that).
And I LOVE reusable shopping bags. I keep one in my purse, but for groceries I tend to forget them. Is there an earth-friendly option for REMEMBERING the things?
Very cool, Swistle! I use kitchen towels as napkins a lot, so an actual set of cloth napkins would be great! And I can always use extra shopping bags.
We try to be somewhat reasonable about the whole paper/paperless thing. We use handkerchiefs, reusable shopping bags (our local grocery stores now charge for plastic bags), and try to limit the amount of paper towels we use, particularly by using microfiber cloths. Cloth napkins…so much laundry and ironing! But I think we could give them a try.
And I’ve really been wanting to try reusable pads…by about day 3 of my period the plastic against my skin is just…not good. But I’ve been overwhelmed at all the options!
I agree with you, Swistle, about the paper towels for cleaning the bathroom. Other than that, I live pretty eco-friendly, but I do live in an area now where that is much, much easier than in other areas (say, like my hometown, where it can be SO hard to recycle). But there is always something more I could be doing, I know!
I have a ton of reusable bags already (always useful), but I’d be interested in either the pads or the napkins! Either of those would definitely help me be a little more green.
I have loads of reusable bags, and actually DO use them, and I buy napkins made of recycled paper, but I have been thinking about trying out the pad thing. So I’d like to enter for those!
Good for you for making an effort, Swistle–I think if each of us made an effort that works for us, we’d be a lot better off as a planet.
We make little changes all the time too. We use cloth napkins, reusable containers and water bottles (I love the glass food storage!), reusable shopping bags, we joined a CSA, we compost, etc. We made all of these changes slowly, over time, and we also prefer these methods, so it feels less Sacrificial. (So much less garbage!)
I’d love any of these, as we can always use more… our Limited Numbers are the only thing that makes any of these stressful.
Ooooh sounds like fun!
Um, I’m terrible at being green, but I’m trying to get better!
We use the reusable shopping bags!
Very interesting! We use reusable shopping bags but never have enough. I’m very interested in the reusable pads, though, because I didn’t know they existed!
Very interesting.
Oooh, thank you! Such pretty colors. We use reusable bags and have started using cloth napkins because the messes that twins can make – outrageous!
I’d like to enter for all three. I’m always trying to do better, although after kid #2 we really slacked off (stopped using cloth diapers, started buying more crap). I’d like to get back. Thanks!
I use reusable bags, recycle, shop my farmer’s market and am ALMOST rid of paper towels (someone tell me what else to effectively cover microwaved bacon with). I’d love to win, but save the pads for someone who will use them (I’m not a fan in the first place).
Okay, I would love to be entered for all three. We have a mostly paperless kitchen, unless I’m cleaning up chicken juice or something gross, in which case it’s paper towels all the way. I also wash all of my clothes in cold water, which was the EASIEST of all the changes we’ve made. I do still wash sheets and towels in hot water, because, well, ICK.
I have wanted to try reusable pads since you mentioned it and cloth napkins, but have been a little hesitant to put forth money to try it. We used cloth diapers with my first child, but it didn’t work out with the second. I also use my own bags and compost with a neighbor.
Enter me for the pads. I’m pretty hippy all the way around- except for the pads. We do cloth diapers, so I am sure I could handle the clean up!
audrey_cale at hotmail dot com
Yay for shipping prizes to Canada too! Thank you for that. We have totally switched to cloth bags and they are so convenient for a ‘piler’ like me – you can just slide piles of junk into a bag and poof – it’s all pretty and you don’t have to look at the junk anymore. Totally failing on the diaper front though – disposables are the only option for us right now (the laundry room in our building is insanely exorbitant). Would love to try the pads though. Or the napkins. Happy Earth Day!
I can’t say I’m a zealot either (a treehugger, but not a full blown hippie) – but the irony is, it’s my JOB. Yep, I’m a Sustainability Coordinator, aka Environmental Nazi, for a manufacturing company. Yet I still use paper towels (RECYCLED ones though) for some cleaning jobs. I’ve made a lot of small changes though – vinegar instead of fabric softener/dryer sheets, washable rags on my swiffer, Feline Pine cat litter, some organic foods, and our very own vegetable garden. I saw your previous post about the cloth pads and have been wanting to make my own, but haven’t gotten around to it. So I’d love to enter for those please!
I’d be happy with whatever. You guys are the best, with all these give-aways today.
What FUN! I’d love to enter all three giveaways because I need all the help I can get.
i have to admit, the only way i would try reusable pads is if i won some. i just get the heebie jeebies (but i don’t when it comes to using a cloth for the bathroom–go figure).
thanks for the great giveaway…
melanie(dot)myatt(at)gmail(dot)com
LOVE IT!!
I have been so tempted to buy these pads because of your recommendations.
We’ve made a lot of Greenish Changes around our house – composting, more strict recycling, less meat eating, more cloth napkins (but not enough to always do it, hence I must win), more local foods – and I am really loving it. It helps that I work for a really green company that has provided me with a lot of resources, and guilt. I mean…inspiration.
I too am very bad with the good choices, we do recycle though and I have recently started to remember to bring my reusable bags when I shop, so maybe the bags would be good here since it’s the one thing I am making an effort at.
Fun! I don’t use pads of any variety (disposable or reusable), but the napkins and the bags would both be useful.
I have a million reusable bags already. (Target actually gave them out last year on Earth Day) so I’d like to enter the napkins and pad giveaways. I love cloth napkins, they make me feel grown up. Also, the pads are something I’d like to try, but have trouble shelling out $$ for if they don’t work out. Maybe they will help balance out all those disposable diapers I’m throwing in the landfill.
Not a pad fan (reusable or not) but I would love the bags or napkins!
I’m in for the bags & pads!
One of my lifedreams is to someday win a Swistle prize.
I’m full up on reusable shopping bags, so just the other two (if I should be so lucky).
Happy Earth Day to you too! I would like to be entered in the recycled bags giveaway, please.
We use earth friendly cleaning supplies, eat organic and local as much as possible and did cloth diapers for a while…but man, disposables are SO MUCH EASIER so that really doesn’t count…in general we could do better. Now that the weather is nice we are biking to work as much as we can, but yeah, we could step it up. Thanks for making me think about it!
I’d be interested in any of the items. I’ve spent the week making cloth baby wipes because I just can’t stand the idea of throwing away thousands of paper wipes…
Oh I love the idea of reusable bags! Hey, we all do what we can when it comes to saving the earth and that’s what counts.
I have been thinking and thinking about the reusable pad idea! I would love to win some pads and bags! An unfortunate habit of buying table linens when they go on clearance at Williams-Sonoma has left me with a plethora of cloth napkins, but I do love them!
I would LOVE to try re-useable pads…but wouldn’t turn down any of the prizes!!
“using clumps of leaves I then compost for the garden.” Heh heh. The image of that just set me off laughing! I would prefer the cloth napkins, please.
Cool giveaway! I’d like to own the napkins, or second choice, the pads. I have tons of reusable shopping bags, which I leave at home a lot. I know, I know.
I’d love to be a reusable pad wearer, but I just can’t do it. Pads aren’t for me! The napkins and bags, though. Those I can get behind!
I’d like to enter all three, please!
Happy Earth Day! I laughed out loud at the “bunches of leaves to compost later” line. Too funny.
“clumps of leaves” made me snort.
also, i *heart* swistle giveaways…please enter me for all three! :)
Bags and napkins! Be kind oh random generator!
Napkins and bags please…also HOORAY for prizes!!
We are fanatical about recycling, it’s always a much bigger pick-up than the trash is. We also eliminated water bottles, which cut backa a ton of waste from us.
Sadly I’m pretty sure I balance it back out by driving my big SUV and using disposable diapers.
I will say though that my sorority always had a big fund-raiser on Earth Day. We would set up on campus and teach people to make tye-dye stuff. Was lots of fun for us damn hippies. :-D
I would like to try to win the cloth pads!
I am using reusable napkins, AND pads… BOTH on your suggestions, Swistle! I, too, bought pads from Sugarmonkies, and I love them very muchly! :)
I’m insane about the reusable grocery bags.
HAPPY EARTH DAY!
Ooh – I’d love to win any of these – great idea! We’ve ditched paper towels completely, but not napkins yet. I’m also really good about using reusable bags. I use so many kleenexes – perhaps giving handkerchiefs a shot should be my next goal.
Happy Earth Day. :) Thanks for the giveaway — totally awesome (even though I never, not ever, not even one time, win any giveaway I enter ever — still it is awesome, and I cannot resist the temptation of giving someone else that much better a chance to win because my bad luck is such that my good luck must land on someone else in desperation).
Happy Earth Day! You weren’t really clear on what was needed to enter, so I hope this works. This is a great giveaway!
Those bags are adorable! Thanks for the eco giveaway.
I use old sweatshirts cut up or old flannel pj pants cut up to dust and clean the bathroom. It works great and I save money AND the enviornment! Try it–it’s not bad. But for some reason I can NOT use those cloths to clean the kitchen. I need paper towels. Huh.
I also use papertowels to clean my bathroom – I’m so glad to learn that I’m not the only person who does that, for the same reason! I am always ashamed of how much paper I waste but I just can’t use a bathroom germ-filled cloth again.
Anyway – I would love to win some reusable pads.
Great giveaway! I’d love to win either the reusable bags or napkins.
I feel the same way about reusable bags that you do about the reusable pads. That is, I expected it to be a SACRIFICE I was making for the PLANET, and now I love them. Seriously, how much better is a tidy stack of bags than a drawer stuffed with plastic bags you can never use up or bear to throw away? SO much better.
I would love to be entered for the bags (more! more!) or the pads (eek!), but we have seven cotrillion fabric napkins. Trust me, I counted them. I keep them on a shelf the baby can reach and I pick them all up fourteen hundred million times a day.
Don’t you think hyperbole is THE WORST HABIT IN THE WORLD?
Happy Earth Day! I’d like to enter for the re-usable bags and cloth napkins. Thanks!
Sign me up! Been curious about the pads and I never find any good deals on napkins.
I already use all three, but one can NEVER HAVE TOO MANY.
I would love to the the pads!!
I have lots of resuable bags, and for the heat of the summer loves the ones that are slightly insulated.
I only use papertowel for greasy spills. I am actually using the towels my grandmother made eons ago for wiping up…talk about long term use!
I LOVE my clothline and even shovel a path to it in the winter.
We would love to eat more local and find it easier in the summer when our local market opens up.
And another YEAH for shipping to Canada!
melaniecarey(at)rogers(dot)com
Whoo, Happy Earth Day! I just bought one reusable pad because of your encouragement, also from sugarmonkies! Mine is red and orange polka dots, all awesome and retro and I love it. I also love your napkins!
Happy Earth Day! A majorly overlooked holiday, in my opinion. I’d love either the napkins or the pads! I am already ok at using reusable grocery bags. I just always forget to put them back in the car after I take the food into the house. :)
happy earth day! those pads look super neat…
this year, for the first time, i bought a harvest share from a local farmer and will pick up a box of produce one a week from may – october. fingers crossed. i’m pumped.
Happy Earth Day!
What a fun giveaway! The reusable pads seem pretty cool — something that could definitely stand to be out of landfills.
Napkins, please. The table kind, not the feminine kind! Not that you can’t have feminine dinner napkins, but you know what I mean … ;)
I would love to try reusable lady bits napkins. We already use cloth napkins, and washcloths (thin packs from Target) instead of paper towels. And we use cloth diapers, and reusable bags. But more reusable bags means some for hubby’s car, too. So yay reusable stuff. The baby gave me a head cold, too. My throat hurts. I need free stuff to make me feel better.
Ooo, I love this giveaway and for such a great cause! I would love, love, love to win any of the prizes :) Thanks so much!
We’ve been recycling for a while, and for the past 2 years, most of my clothing purchases have been from Goodwill. The one closest to our house has an awesome selection and I always get compliments on my outfits :)
I’d love any of them. I’ve busy this week taking plastic bags and planting containers back to stores for recyling. I try to remember to always have a reusable bag with me. I love the baggu ones.
I bought a metal water bottle because I was disturbed by all the plastic bottles I was throwing away after my trips to the health club. I too use paper towels to clean the bathroom.
I bought a metal water bottle because I was disturbed by all the plastic bottles I was throwing away after my trips to the health club. I too use paper towels to clean the bathroom.
I would like to be entered for all three, please.
Hiya! For me, Earth Day is every day. I was even recycling my co-worker’s empty plastic bottles weekly instead of them throwing them in the trash…but mgmt didn’t like the empties stacking up on my desk.
I love the pads, esp the shark one, with the blood? Ha! Made me chuckle!
-danish
LOVE this give-away! And I’m really eager to try those reusable pads! (And should just go and ORDER some, already!)
Awesome, why not? I already use reusable pads, but I’d be up for the bags or the napkins (I really, really want those napkins!).
I’m lovin’ the napkins and the bags – I keep MEANING to buy reusable bags but them I’m all: do I really NEED to spend that $1.99 x however many and think: no, no I don’t. And then I may or may not drive thru McD & get an iced coffee. Earth hates me.
Does it win me any Swistle points to have a birthday on the very day you’re choosing the winner? Wait. Do you hear that? That’s the sounds of the stars aligning…
Happy Earth Day!
I think I would be equally happy to win any of those prizes. Two of them include things that we SHOULD be doing but aren’t, and one of them includes something I really want to try, but, for obvious reasons, would not force on my fiance.
Oh my garsh, everything is so adorable! I would love to win one of your giveaways. Squee!!!
bags or napkins! i love the napkins, especially. happy earth day!
I’d love to win the pads–I have a few already and love using them over disposables, but I need a few more to use them full time!
Oooh…..I have a question about the pads. How absorbent are they? For example, if someone wanted to wear them while running to avoid the inevitable er, leakage, of urine that happens after birthing a few kiddos…would they be absorbent enough? Or should I stick to my environment destroying super maxis?
oh man, which one? all three? yes, let’s do that and i can be thrilled if i win anything! :D
–kimberly
Id like to try the pads
Ooh cool! I’d prefer the pads and bags packet rather than the cloth napkins. BUT, even though you said to specify this, I feel greedy/bad specifying… LOL!!! Any of them is amazing. LOL.
Would love any of these! What a great giveaway, Swistle!
Happy Earth Day all!
I use reusable bags and there is always room for more. I think before I print and use both sides of a page. I do use paper towels but buy the kind that lets you select-a-size. Do use cloth napkins, also try to have a no-driving day per week. And I’ve never won a Swistle contest. Pick me! Please?
Oooh, these are lovely items for a giveaway. We don’t use paper napkins either. We have a basket full of baby washcloths in the kitchen that I use to clean up the kids after each meal. We recycle like crazy (we even bring stuff home from work that can’t be recycled there), we have two composters, and drive a very fuel-efficient car. We could be better in several areas though; we use disposable diapers for instance. But I decided recently that I should switch to cloth pads, I just have to read back in your archives to see all the choices you found at Etsy and then order them.
Thanks! And Happy Earth Day!
I used to hate using washcloths for cleaning also. But here’s my fix. I buy cheapo washcloths at Wal-Mart (pretty abrasive, so I won’t use them on my face) and those are my “rags” that I clean everything with. The floor, the kitchen, the bathroom, everything. But, of course, I wash those in hot water with bleach (which isn’t the best environmentally speaking). But it cuts down on a ton of paper waste.
Ooooh, prizes! And not disqualified for being Canadian! Hooray!
We use cheap washcloths as cleaning rags – if they still smell stinky after you wash them (for example if someone left a wet one lying in a crumpled heap by the sink for several days and it started to smell) you can just wet it and put in the microwave for a minute. I was really trying to avoid having to use bleach and it seems to work really well.
Fun! I’d love to win any of those! I’ve never tried the pads, but I’ve thought about it.
For Earth Day, I mowed my lawn using my reel mower. I decided ages ago that I wasn’t going to pay money to buy gas so I could keep my yard trimmed. So I have a push mower. The old-fashioned ones that are people-powered! I love it! Better for the grass and quieter on the ears. It makes mowing the lawn a much more enjoyable experience.
It helps, of course, that my lawn is the size of a post card. :)
Cheers!
Kylene
Hurrah! A giveaway! I would be extremely happy to win any of those prizes.
I’ve been meaning to make cloth napkins, but i don’t have the right material for it yet. I did, however, make a whole slew of little cloth bags to use in place of ziploc bags a couple of weeks ago, and they have been working famously. That’s my contribution to Earth Day this year, i guess. :)
We get better in a lot of little ways every year, but the best thing we do is probably compost. That and recycling has cut our trash by 2/3’s so that we have an almost empty can on trash day.
Beth- IRONING? Oh dear no.
Mrs. Biscuit- I would THINK they’d be perfect for it. I always get the PUL (waterproof) layer and haven’t had any problems with leaking.
Well, we already have cloth napkins that we don’t use, but I am SUPER interested in trying the pads, and the bags would be nice too.
We do a lot of recycling and our town takes just about everything. We don’t compost, per se, but I do save veggie scraps, coffee grounds and egg shells to fertilize our garden.
Thanks for the opportunity to try some ‘green’ products. I never considered using cloth napkins, and had never heard of reuseable pads. I’d love to win any, but I’ve already bookmarked some etsy sites to get my own in the (very likely) event I don’t win.
Cheers!

Would love me some pads! I’ve been wanting to try them but haven’t been willing to spend the money, since my period isn’t back after having my last baby. He’ll be a year next month, though, and he’s recently weaned himself to night feedings, so I’m thinking I should be prepared. :)
we use cloth napkins and i use cloth pads, but we could always use more :) please enter me for all of the contests. thanks!
I’m. Um. Not Earth friendly. *shame* With the occasional exception of using reuseable shopping bags.
But winning one of these would certainly be a step in the right direction.
Count me in!
I do what I can — reusable bags (even for produce!), stainless steel water bottles, recycle, cloth napkins. But I live in an area where there is no public transportation, so I do have to drive quite a bit (even though my son takes the bus to school). I would love the reusable bags. Like you, I have more cloth napkins than I need! (I actually went through a phase of making them by hemming fat quarters of fabric. The possibilities are endless that way. Ahem.)
Yay! Happy Earth Day!
We use cloth bags, and we try to use cloth napkins. I recycle as much as I can, but sometimes, I admit it, I cannot deal with rinsing out peanut butter jars. I would LOVE to try cloth pads, though, as soon as I push this baby out in the next few weeks. :)

Stuff we do: cloth napkins, washclothes galore (get a lot and they don’t have to wig you out – use it and then stuff it in your washer), cloth hankies made out of old tshirts (mucho softo), a diva cup for moi, reusable water bottles for hubster, brita filters here at home for the good water…
Please enter me if its not too late! My internet was gone yesterday!
Please enter me for all 3 giveaways! Always love a cute re-useable shopping and I’ve been wanting to try the pads ever since you talked about them! Thanks Swistle!
Would like to enter all giveaways, and add that your reusable pad picks are downright badass.
I would love the table napkins and would certainly put the reusable bags to good use.
Yipppeeee! Swistle, you’re awesome! I’d love to have any of the three.
What we do: recycle, compost, cloth napkins (have tons), cloth grocery bags (also tons) and don’t use paper towels (truth: a couple rolls have made it into the house over the last year).
We do not: use handkerchiefs. Kleenex all the way. Sorry. I’m not that good. Also, pads. I’d love to try them though. Have browsed Etsy but haven’t made a purchase yet. This would be a great way to try them first. Thanks for the chance to win!
Oooooh, I’d like to try using cloth table napkins, please!
Long have I been trying to win one of your goodie boxes and lo, I am a loser.
Pick me pick me! :)
Earth Day was fun at my place of employment with tables of displays and bake sales and carpools and commute challenges.
hmmm. I hope I win the pads because that is something I want to try but I want to try it for free in case I don’t like it. Good Luck Me!!
Megan
Happy belated Earth Day! My kids have become zealots about recycling, due to a little ditty they learned at school that they sing CONSTANTLY. At least they are willing to take the recycling out for me, though!
Ooh, I love my cloth pads, but I’d love to win any of the three. Thank you!
I am pretty good at using the bags. I have some cloth napkins, but it would be nice to have a few new ones. I have never tried cloth pads but have been thinking about it for quite awhile. I think the initial investment is a little ouch factor.
I’d never thought about using reusable pads before. I’m interested to see how well they work.
I also really like the idea of using cloth napkins instead of paper and those grocery bags are really cute. I’d love to have all three. :D
What a fabulous idea this is! Do you know what I learned from this post? Cloth napkins don’t need to match! And non-matchy is even cuter than matchy!
Thanks for the Earth Day inspiration!!
OOOOHHH! They look really neat! Enter me for all three please! We have a worm bin that we compost scraps in. The worms are a bit lazy in the winter, but my three year old still calls them his “pets”
The “Pow” pad makes me smile… I’d like to be entered for all three giveaways!
I’d like to be entered for all 3 please!! I already use cloth grocery bags and you can never have enough of those – especially since we use them for more than just groceries! I would love to have some cloth napkins and the pads would make a great back up for my sea sponge tampons! SQUEE – so excited for this giveaway! Everyone wins, with this!
Wow those pads are cheerful! My home-made ones are decidedly more-rustic looking….
Happy Earth Day, Swistle!
reusable bags!! I know that’s something I would use if I just had them.
Ooh, ooh, pick me! I don’t care which packet to be put in for. So excited about your Earth Day efforts! :)
Sign me up for the reusable pads! Been thinking about it for a while…maybe winning some will push my contemplation to action!
Cloth pads, please =)!
hope i’m not too late to enter! Bags or pads! i’m a woman…i shop & i bleed. ;)
If the contest is still on, I’d love the pads. (Or the bags would be a second choice.) Thanks!
Okay, so this is an update to my comment of TWO AM April 23rd. I am not making this up. Started my first period since August 2008 not SEVEN HOURS LATER. First period after my last baby, started on the morning of my first baby’s 9th birthday. It’s like a motherfreaking Circle of Life moment.
Oh, am I too late??? I want to be entered to win the cloth pads. The whole reason I won’t go and purchase them myself is because I’m one month away from 45 and just don’t think I’ll be using pads all that much longer (given my perimenopausal symptoms). But that whole discussion has been so intriguing to me and I wish I had stumbled upon it years ago.
Bags, please, if I am not too late. My husband has absconded with all of ours.
