Valentine’s Day Giveaway

OH CRAP. I mean, Hi! Guess what? When I was getting out the baby girl clothes for the giveaway I just chose winners for, I found the giveaway I meant to do for Valentine’s Day. I mean, it’s not too late, it’s more that having two giveaways back to back feels like it would be pretty boring, especially if you win neither one.

Well, poor planning, failure to anticipate, lost track of what month it was, etc., etc., let’s get on with it. It’s winter anyway and that’s a good time to get packages in the mail, and I continue to crave the mood boost of sending packages in the mail.

Last year I did a shopping post about my clearance Valentine’s Day haul, and I got some extras of that stuff thinking it would make a good Valentine’s Day giveaway for the next year. Which it sure would! Assuming you like pink and red clearance heart crap! Which I DO, very much!

I liked Valentine’s Day so much more when I was single, by the way. I liked to celebrate it in that pleasingly morose way where you buy a big heart-shaped box of chocolates and a large pepperoni pizza and you eat them all by yourself or with a friend while watching John Cusack and/or Hugh Grant movies. Awwww yeahhhhh.

Now I like it for the candy and cute decorative items I buy on clearance afterward.

Anyway! This box is a jumble of misc. Valentine’s Day stuff. There are some plastic plates as shown in that shopping post, and one of the bird coffee mugs so I really hope it doesn’t break. Heart/bird dishtowels and heart coasters. Heart/bird/owl/turtle paper napkins. Oven mitts in heart pattern and in pink/red stripe. Lovey-dovey googly-eye heart stickers. Oh, you don’t want to scroll alllll the way up and click allll the way through to that post? I understand. Here are some photos:

(That is the WHOLE HEAP of towels/mitts, which I’ve since reduced significantly for my own use and in other care packages.)

So anyway, that is the gist! Package of Valentine’s Day stuff! Mailed to you from me! I hope in time for any morose sitting-around you might have planned!

You have to have a U.S. (or APO/FPO) mailing address for me to use (one of these days we are going to have to have a contest where NO ONE with a U.S. address is eligible, just to fair things up a bit), but that’s it. Leave a comment saying whatever you want (Do you have Valentine’s Day plans? Which do you like better, the color pink or the color red?) and I’ll pick a winner on Tuesday the 9th so I can ship it Wednesday. Or perhaps it is not necessary to specify when I’m shipping it. Here, let me show you the hours my post office is open.

I like pink better than red, various shades of it anyway. I love red on my girls though, because I get super sick of pink on them. We don’t have VD plans, although we intend to go to dinner sometime soon, just not on VD – I think it’s too crazy in restaurants right around the day.

Were are going to have a treat and try to cook
prime rib for ourselves and my stepdaughter and
her boyfriend and my 7 year old will probably want a regular old steak. A nice night at home
and then a holiday off of work for me on Monday. Sounds lovely doesn’t it?

I am going to bake chocolate cupcakes with my daughters, and frost them pink, for Valentine’s Day but also belatedly for my birthday, which is on Monday the 8th. I would love some cute Valentine’s swag to make up for the fact that I have to bake my own birthday cake, belatedly.

No Valentine’s plans. I’m a little jaded this year, so I’m of the “Valentine’s is a Hallmark made holiday– screw this” variety.

    It’s lovely, really.

I always hit the Valentine’s clearance on the 15th because my daughter’s birthday is the 19th. She hasn’t yet caught on why her birthday is always red/pink heart themed LOL

My husband and I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day, but not for any particular reason. I do love the post-holiday candy sales, though.

In college, in honor of being single on Valentine’s day, my friends and I would dye our hair black, then go drinking.

Oh I love this stuff!! I don’t have Vday plans but I think my husband might have something up his sleeve. The man can NEVER pull off a surprise. This time, my mom told me that he had told her about this thing at his job and then he mentioned that she had told him about something going on at church. They don’t talk outside gatherings so something’s up and the surprise is blown again!

Actually, for Valentine’s Day I for some reason felt kind this year and I am hosting “Dessert by Candlelight” for some of my family (sisters, sister-in-laws, brothers, brothers-in-laws, parents, aunt and uncle). I am making 5 desserts and setting up card tables all around my house and will be serving wine and dessert for 2 hours while they converse with their significant others. My hubby has generously volunteered to keep the kids upstairs so no one has to arrange childcare and wah-la! It’s a free date night!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    Red, definately Red.

Our plans? Absolutely NONE of the romantic nature for hubby and me, because he just isn’t a romantic kind of guy and because of the previously scheduled event that I have to participate in.

Our lovely religious education director, who by the way is SINGLE, completely unattached and has no kids or other family, has arranged a Sponsor/Candidate meeting for the confirmation class on Valentine’s Day! SO. My best friend, our best-friends-since-preschool daughters, and I (we’re sponsoring each other’s daughter!) will all be going to a meeting at church from 6:00 – 9:00pm on Valentine’s Day. We’ve all called the director and asked to meet earlier in the day, or even on another day, but she is adamant about NOT changing the date and time. *sigh* She’s the kind of person for whom you pray will someday marry and have a dozen kids who are JUST LIKE HER. LOL!!

My favorite color is red! In fact we painted our kitchen cabinets red when we moved into our house. I think its very cheerful.

I like red more than pink, and our valentine’s day plans are kind of up in the air. If I have a baby by then we will probably order takeout and stay home. If no baby we might go to a movie or out for dinner. I’m due the 16th, and this is my first, so I’m expecting to still be pregnant.

Those little turtles are ADORABLE!! I heart them….
That being said, I wasn’t very big on pink until my daughter was born. I try to dress her in other colors most of the time and she looks very nice in red.
We are supposed to go camping on Valentine’s weekend but only because it is also President’s Day weekend so the boys have Monday out of school and we always clear out of town in those times. I imagine we will take a liesurely stroll through the woods at some point but due to a very hefty hospital bill we have tolod each other not to buy antyhing huge. I bought him a giant Hershey’s Kiss and he will get me a large heart shaped box of chocolates because I love them! We are getting the kids stuff, but it’s normal I-really-need-a-reason-to-buy-this-for-kid-X-and-oh-look!-Valentine’s-Day-is-coming!-type stuff.

I love giveaways! It’s the greedy jerk in me.

The first couple of years we were married (aka pre-kids), my husband and I took my widowed grandmother out to eat on Valentine’s Day. Then we bought a house three days before VD the next year, so my husband surprised me with a meal he brought there (even though the heat wasn’t on yet and we froze our butts off), and – geez, I don’t even remember last year. At any rate, we’re planning to take her out again this year. And I’m trying to think of fun VD traditions we can start with our kids, but I’m drawing a blank.

Oh yeah, and sometime during the weekend my brother and I are supposed to go to the theater to watch the Percy Jackson movie. We’re cool like that. I think it’ll be my first theater experience since “Batman Begins.”

I guess I’d choose pink if I had to. I’m sure I look equally smashing in both.

    I like pink and red.

We (our family of 6 — 2 parents, 4 kids) spend every Valentine’s with grandparents (my parents only :o) ) at a Greek restaurant that we dearly love. When my babies were babies (the youngest is now 3) the owner would tote them around with her so I could enjoy my meal without a fussy, wiggly baby on my lap.

I love that plate with the birds on it. My daughter (one, and only) is really into birds all of a sudden.

I love pink and red, so I hope I get a girl one day! I love Valentine’s Day mostly for a) the candy and b) making Valentines. It’s a tradition in my family to get each other small valentines (my grandma did it for her kids, my mom did it for us, and now I’m a mom!) I think it’s much sweeter and more fun to celebrate it as a family holiday instead of a romantic holiday. :)

Thank you for another fun giveaway, Swistle, and I think I am eligible for this one, seeing as how I did not have a baby girl in the last 5 minutes for your last one.

I love the colors PINK and RED together for V-Day only, and the more the better!

I loved V-Day best when I could dress my daughter (now 17, still a cute dresser, but she obvi dresses herself) in fun, presh V-Day clothes. She had SO many every year. But it was a bit stressful having her get “enough wear” out of those outfits, and then it would stress me out to put her in the outfit too much BEFORE V-Day or even a day after, although I still would. But let’s not start going down that road right now.

Now I have two little boys, also, but they don’t like to wear V-Day clothes, which is fine by me because they mostly involve skirts and dresses and tights anyhow, plus notice again the stress I mentioned above.

I also like V-Day because my husband and I go out for a fun dinner ALONE and use forks, knives, and napkins, and each of us cuts our own food and drinks a festive adult beverage.

    Thanks again, Swistle :)

My 2.5 son’s favorite color is pink. A slightly unfortunate choice according to my husband, although at his age, the only concern is arguments with the girls over the pink cupcake at school. Anyway, Valentine’s day is the one day a year I will fully indulge his pink obsession.

I remember when you bought those and a year later I still want them. :) My hubby says he’s cooking dinner for Valentine’s day. I haven’t bought him anything yet. I guess I better get moving…

OH I hope I win! I have one of those bird coffee cups from last year and it is my VERY favorite BUT my husband dropped it and the bird broke off which makes me sad. It is glued back on, but just not the same.

    I heart pink.

I must be lacking a life. On Friday, I actually went into the school, found the other Kindergarten moms and asked how I could be involved with my 4th child’s class Valentine’s Day party. As a mom of 5, I am given a generous ‘pass’ by most of my kids’ teachers and the other parents as far as helping out with their classes goes. I must love Valentine’s Day. Or helping. Or kids. Or something. Anyway, consider me entered. :)

LOL when I read your descriptions of your previous and present loves of Valentine’s Day. Had to read it aloud for hubby. He didn’t laugh. I’m guessing it is because he realizes that the only way I’m getting a box of chocolates is if I buy it myself as well.

Oh well. Since we are a house full of boys over here, I’d better lean towards the red. What a fun giveaway! Love your blog. I need these laughs whenever I can get them.

my valentimes day plans: I’m baking chocolate chip cookies in the shape of I <3 U. Bought the shapes at target DB. And not just chocolate chips, but peanut butter and white chips, too. I'm romantic.

I’ve always liked your idea of doing nice things for the kids on Valentines, so my plans is to do a few special things for them next Sunday.

    And I like Red. :)

no plans for valentines… BUT! my little girls birthday is at the end of this month & she looooooves pink, pink, pink and more PINK so those cute plates she would love & I just adore the coffee mug… and the pile of towels would save me a load of laundry each week since i could just have more to choose from!

I definitely like pink more than red. I don’t have much disposable income to spend on decorative things, so any holiday swag (for ANY holiday) is very much welcome around here. Our house looks perpetually like the middle of August — no seasonal decorations to be found!

I pretty much love that mug!

No Valentine’s Day plans here. We’re not really the mushy make plans and go on a date type. I actually laughed when I realized it was on a Saturday because then how will hubby remember at the last minute and buy a card and the last couple of wilting flowers at the grocery store on his way home, hehehehe… (btw, it’s cute when he does that, it really is, simply b/c i’m not expecting anything at all so it’s sweet).

My birthday is eight days before Valentine’s Day, so I never put a lot of stock in V Day.

BUT! This year, I will (hopefully) find out the sex of my baby on the 16th, so February 14th becomes very exciting because it means I’m that much closer to knowing if it’s a boy or a girl! Yay!

I prefer pink. Especially on my 2 girls. They wear pink almost daily. For V day I will make heart cookies with my daughter for school and then I have to work because we own a restaurant. Happy Valentines Day to you.

I am helping my 6 year old granddaughter with a brunch for the family. She planned the entire event, from the menu to making invitations and a menu board. I love it!

Husband’s birthday in January, our anniversary on Feb. 13th and my birthday 9 days later makes for a busy Winter! This year we are celebrating everything by taking a small trip to Florida to watch Spring Training (Go Cards!).

Am I too late? I love the color combination of pink, red and white. Its not something that you can really do any other time of year but its very pleasing to me in the middle of winter to see so much nicely colored cheer.

I love pink, and I love red, and I love valentines. This year I am in the buy a box of chocolates for yourself and watch sappy movies by yourself catagory. A box of pizza would look so much better when sitting on cute turtle plates

When people abbreviate Valentine’s Day to VD, I think of something other than love.

Also, funny/cute story: my brother (who’s 25) was so concerned that my husband doesn’t usually get me anything for Valentine’s Day (he’s a CPA and it’s a busy time of year) that he bought chocolates and a card to give to my husband to give to me. And he was trying to figure out a way not to seem like a jerkwad for doing it (“here, buddy, you’re not a very good husband this time of year”), but then he was saved because my husband bought me a spa basket at an auction we went to on Saturday. I don’t get to know what’s in the basket until Valentine’s Day, but I told my brother, and he told me his plan. I think it’s great that he’s so concerned for my emotional health. Especially when he knows I have a great marriage.
Now, he’s going to give the chocolates and card to our dad to give to mom. Because dad CERTAINLY didn’t think about it.

Oh, that mug is so cute! My baby boy will be 8 months on on Saturday so I plan on loving him even more all weekend (and share some treats with my husband – that I will have made, how generous of me :) )

Oh fun! I prefer pink, and I don’t really have any Valentine’s plans yet, except that I think I’m going to get some of those amazing cupcakes from Starbucks and take them home for my kids on Friday night.
