Let there be ANOTHER hotpad!
This one is two strands of cotton (instead of one strand cotton and one strand wool like the first one), but still on size 6 needles. One strand changes from yellow to white and back again; the other strand changes from pink to white and back again. It’s fun to choose this kind of yarn and fun to knit with it, but the results remind me of the rag rugs I used to buy for $1 for my apartment so I think maybe next time I will use non-color change.
Oh, I like it! I do think it’s reminiscent of a rag rug but I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all.
It’s sunny!
I like the colors. :) I’ve been knitting up dishcloths like crazy recently, and they’re very similar to your hotpads.
(By the way, if you’ve not discovered it yet, check out ravelry.com. You have to set up an account to browse the site (it’s in beta), but it’s free and will inspire the heck out of you in regards to knitting. You won’t be sorry!) (If I’ve suggested this to you in the past, sorry for the duplicate suggestion!)
I know nothing of knitting although my mom is a pro. I never had the patience to learn. I do believe you are on your way to your own hotpad etsy store!
I think it is pretty. Yay to knitting square things! Oddly, the first thing I knit (a few weeks ago!) was a coffee cup cozy in the round, using five needs.
I am too chicken to try anything else, so, hey – do you want a coffee cup cozy?
Pretty! I love the colors. I love that you’re a knitter now, too. :)
You’ve also totally reminded me to take a picture of the dishcloths I just finished.
I love the idea of a satisfying project that can be done in a short amount of time.
So cute! I love it. I’m going to learn to knit, really am. Someday!
Pretty colours! If you want to try an easy but pretty dishcloth pattern, I really like this one. It knits up fast and has a pretty, lacey border when it’s finished.
These yarns would make such a cute baby blanket!
I like the colors–they’re sunny!
Honestly, I love rag rugs! Have one in my kitchen now.
Well, welcome to the world of knitters of more than one thing! And, believe it or not, out of the whole of the Internets, I delurked to comment with the very same link that LoriD has already provided above. Small world, this Internet, and it goes to show you the popularity of that lacy-edged dishcloth pattern.
It’s a very easy pattern. Don’t get freaked out by the YO and other directions. When you’re ready to expand your knitting repertoire to include increasing and decreasing, you can see tutorials for the different kinds of stitches on youtube, or on some of the yarn company websites. It’s fun! And easy! And makes something new!
And, not that you asked or probably care, but my current project is a knitted bathroom rag rug, using size 19 needles and strips of old sheets for yarn. It’s going to be cooooool.
Pretty! You’re inspiring me to learn to knit! I love the colors, anything pink, orange, or yellow just makes me happy. Especially this time of year, when everything around here is brown. Like muddy slushy snow.
Yay for knitting! With Rob around, you will surely be able to turn out many wonderful things. I recommend MasonDixonKnitting.com, a wonderful, cheery blog by two women who have also written two beautiful and funny knitting books.
Oooh! Ramona! That sounds awesome! I might go get some thrift store sheets to rip up!
Also, Swistle, you now have a stash. Buying yarn is just as fun as making it into things.
I think it looks like a baby blanket! Cute!
I see Niestle hats in your crafting future. (OMG GIRLS HATS SO CUUUTE!)
Look at you making purty stuff!
I want SO BADLY to be able to knit and I’ve tried to learn several times. I just don’t have the fine motor control for it at all. Next time I decide to try, I’m going to get me some of those giant needles so I can hamfist may way through.
I love those colors. You know…you could always send one to ME…..
