This is the perfect time of year to buy things for oneself. If anyone asks about the packages and bags, look coy and say, “It’s a SECRET!”

GENIUS!
Personally I’m a fan of having to add to last minute amazon orders to get the free shipping – oh look, I bought myself a CD!
That is genius!! EVIL genius!!
ABSOLUTELY! You can scream “DON’T OPEN THAT!” and they assume that you’re wonderful for purchasing them something ;-)
HA! Awesome.
I’m a firm believer that this should work year round. Or at least I pretend it to be.
And I agree with Kelsey… I always add stuff on to online orders for myself to get the free shipping. Hey, it’s a dirty job but someone has to do it!
Yes, but when you come out wearing/using your new item before Christmas, it’s harder to cover up.
I never plan to, but I always end up buying more stuff for myself this time of year than all the rest of the year combined. I guess because that way I know I’ll end up with *something* I actually want.
Ahem. I just did this, on Tuesday. In my defense, the one for me was only ONE package out of many for other people, and it is only for after I finish my book, as a treat. It was on sale! More than 50% off! I AM ONLY HUMAN, AFTER ALL.
You are so clever!
Haha yup, sounds about right.
Most definitely. I always do this. LOL
Diabolical!
You are pure GENIUS!
oh definitely. i mean, it’s just inhumane to be getting loads of packages on my doorstep from all the internet ordering i’m doing, and all of them be for OTHER PEOPLE. i get all excited when i get mail! it’s only fair that some of it be for ME.
Excellent strategy. One I must employ immediately
That’s the plan!
Hey, I bestowed an award on you today– come see!
Erin, no I think this time of year works perfectly for that too- we exchange so many gifts in so many different settings, that if I wear something new my hubs just thinks I got it as a gift. (Well, maybe it just works for people that are married to people that are LACKING the “Pay Attention” skill- especially in gift-opening situtations.)
Yup – I add stuff for me to online orders, too. I usually scan the clearance/sales/specials to reduce the guilt, but sometimes I just add something I want, like the mp3 player that will arrive with my in-laws’ gifts. How did THAT get in here?!
LOVE IT!
Yep – I do this, too.
Oh man, tell me about it. The sales are irresistible to me right now! I bought new suitcases. And then new shoes and a new shirt. And a new “my family hates my tattoo” dress and a new “everyone else likes my tattoo” dress. Lots of shopping, no Christmas gifts yet… whoops.
