Saved as Drafts

Posts currently saved as drafts, because they seemed like less of a good idea after I wrote them but I didn’t quite want to delete them:

1. A post trying to kiss up to people from Wyoming, because I was playing with Google Analytics and found out I am super-unpopular there—even taking into account the low population.

2. A post in which the only part that is written is the title, which is “Free Yard Sale.” It was going to be about how every year we hold a free yard sale in our (wait for it) yard. But after I wrote the title, I felt like I’d already explained the whole concept.

3. A post I meant to finish LONG AGO, with a question from a reader about newborn sleep issues. That newborn is now…let’s see…two months old.

4. A rant post about things that bug me. All the things in the list are things I have already ranted about on other occasions.

5. A post about how using my Wii Fit is like going to confession (“It has been 3 days since my last workout”). I am not Catholic. What do I know about what going to confession is like?

6. A post about whether elementary-school-aged boys should be allowed to wear nail polish if they want to.

7. A post containing partially-written childbirth stories. They kept getting out-of-hand lengthy. Like, novellas.

8. A post about what an obedient person I am. Who cares?

9. A post containing links to postcards I was buying for Postcrossing after asking you guys for suggestions and getting some great ones. I don’t know why I never posted this. Looks like I forgot.

10. A post about Jimmy, only half-written before I ran out of steam with those adolescent-diary posts.

11. A rant about how I much I dislike it when people assume that a family with 5 children NEEDS a 7-bedroom house or tons of other stuff people didn’t expect to have a few generations ago when they had more children and fewer bathrooms. Never posted because I kind of like it when people say, “And you only have one bathroom??????” as long as they say it in the impressed way instead of in the “I’m calling Child Protective Services” way. And besides, now we have two bathrooms.

12. A rant about how on the children’s television show Arthur, Arthur is in third grade before he ever sees his parents bicker. Er?

13. A post about the time I went to my primary care provider to ask if I could be switched to a version of the birth control pill that would make me feel less crazy, and he said I should “do the adult thing” and get my tubes tied. I thought I’d probably already written about that enough times. And besides, then I went to my OB who said there DEFINITELY WAS a birth control pill that made many women feel less crazy, and he gave me a prescription for it, and then he had a highly gratifying conversation with his nurse in which the two of them rolled their eyes at how dumb my PCP was.

14. Yet another post in which I discuss my various methods for dealing with depression-like moods. Repetitive much?

15. A list of things that changed the way I felt about other things (example: Britney Spears’s behavior changed the way I felt about Kevin Federline).

16. A post about how Paul is not a “fixer” the way many men are, but I AM. That is, if you vent to me, I might forget that I’m not being asked to offer a solution. I didn’t post it because I actually would rather not draw your attention to that flaw.

There. That brings us back to fall of 2008.

    Um, I am DYING to read #2, 6, 7, 8, 11, 14, 15, and 16, but let’s be honest, I find most anything you write wildly fascinating.
Mostly I want to hear about the Free Yard Sale.

Your PCP sounds like my former PCP, who told me that I was a hypochondriac who just needed to have babies. Got a new doctor, found out I had several serious health issues, including one that rules making babies right out. And now I’m a functional human being again! So thbpt to some PCPs.

Also found out that in my state, all you need is a PhD in Biology to practice medicine. You could have a PhD in PLANT BIOLOGY and then go treat HUMANS for DISEASES. That makes me laugh every time.

I’m really curious about the Wyoming post, because I just can’t figure out what you’d say to suck up to them. Like, how awesome you think horses and rodeos are? I mean, you must have had to research that.

Postcards! Actually I’d happily read all of those but I’m busting to hear about the postcards.

And while I’m at it I TOTALLY blame you for my postcard/postcrossing addiction lol. Six months ago I was normal and now I cannot walk past a shop that sells them, what if they have one I have never seen before!? Now I have like 250 blank postcards in 135 different designs and I’m totally blaming you lol. But that also means you’re responsible for my mailbox being full of postcards, so I’ll forgive you just this once! :P

These were such good little snippets of post ideas! I never save anything as drafts, I just work on exactly what I’m going to post. If I start something and then don’t really like it, I delete it. I do sometimes keep some handwritten notes in a notebook though of blog post ideas, so perhaps those are my ‘drafts’.

Mr. P is from Wyoming if you ever decide to follow up on that one, he might be able to give you some tips. And, my 2 cents, yes, I think an elementary aged (or any age really) boy wants to wear nail polish–who cares?

    TWO THINGS!

One! I have 6 drafts almost totally completed, all of which are titled, “This is Why You Suck:_______” and fill in the blank with whatever sucky thing that post is describing. It is all in drafts because I like having friends, and in order to keep friends, we all know that we must hide as much of our true natures as possible.

Two! Watch me make stereotypes and generalizations – While men are traditionally the “fixers,” as you say, I think that only a woman who happens to be a “fixer” (a bit more rare than the male “fixer”) would even begin to realize that the habit can, at times, be REALLY ANNOYING (not that I’m saying you’re annoying. You know what I’m saying.) My fiance is a fixer, and I can’t tell you how many times I have said things along the lines of “I am JUST TALKING” and “STOP SUGGESTING THINGS AT ME!” and he remains bewildered as to why I would be annoyed.

Amen sister on number 11. We have a three-bedroom house with five inhabitants. Yes, it’s like we live in a dirt shack. Or at least that’s how people treat it.

And then, when they find out all three kids are girls they lament how my life will be when they are all teenagers.

    Um, thanks for what?

I have to respectfully disagree regarding your annoyance with Arthur. I like that dude, but I cannot stand it when his youngest sister cries. I can hear my own kids cry any day of the week.

At least I can mute Arthur’s sister Kate.

Number 1 intruigues me the most. In fact, I laughed out loud when I read it b/c it was so funny to me that peeps from Wyoming wouldn’t like you! That’s crazy! And why? We need to know!! :o)

I’m completely with you on 13 and 16. I make my sister nuts because she just wants to complain about her job and/or our mother and/or our brother/brother’s family, and instead of just listening to her complain, I start coming up with solutions.

Cardiogirl- Oh, I love Arthur! I only objected to the episode where his parents have a minor argument and he’s all SHOCKED and DOESN’T EVEN KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON. And he’s in 3rd grade! His parents had NEVER had a bicker before then?

Oh, and I also hate the episode where D.W. is being SUPER-RUDE to everyone and her parents don’t do anything except say, “Now, D.W.”

Avoiceofmyown- It’s Yasmin; the generic is Ocella. The OB says it regulates mood swings and PMS symptoms in many women, but not all, and that I should give it 3 months because that’s about how long it takes to reach maximum oomph.

Yeah, I’m also in the camp of wanting to read everything you write, so all this did to me was serve to be a BIG TEASE! And Wyoming, really? Many years ago when I was like ten and we were driving our motorhome out west we spent a night in Wyoming and there was a big hail storm that scared the crap out of me all night and left big dents in the motorhome, making my parents all pissy the next day. Damn Wyoming.

I love your house comment about the 7 bedrooms. We’ve been looking for a new house for awhile and for some reason, keep getting shown houses with crazy numbers of bedrooms, but no big room where we could all hang out together. I don’t really care if my kids are stacked to the ceiling when they are asleep, I just want a coat closet big enough for all the coats and a room that can hold a couch big enough for six so we could all watch a movie together.

I would love to hear your birth stories, and I would like to know what that birth control was, as most I have tried make me crazy as well. And honestly, I can’t get enough of your rants or your “this is how I deal” or your way of parenting posts

I would very much enjoy numbers seven and eight. I always am particularly interested in c-section birth stories because I have such a FEAR of them after my awful spinal anesthesia experience during knee surgery. And I’ve read some real horror stories too, like the doctors IGNORING the moms when they tried to tell them that the epidural hadn’t taken effect yet! I know you have (comparatively speaking) enjoyed your births, so it’s reassuring to hear about just in case I ever need one.

Oh man… I’ve actually tried yasmin and it made me nuts, more so than any other pill I have ever tried. Just my luck. I actually took my samples back to the dr afterjust one month. I’ve seen comercials for Yaz… may try that. I just went back on a regular pill and I am trying alesse…

I, also, would like to hear the childbirth stories. I find them fascinating.
Also, votes here for the “things that make you feel differently about other things” and “coping with depression-type moods” posts. I need this information. Well, the first one just sounds interesting and I want more examples because I’m not quite clear on what you mean.
And, is it just me, or do other people have trouble with this comment form? Like, it won’t let me copy or paste anything, and my arrow keys don’t work. Yesterday it rejected my comment outright, but it was kind of a dumb comment so I didn’t say anything. But today, my input MUST be shared. I will not be denied. (This is brzeski but I’m posting as anonymous to see if it helps.)

I would LOVE to hear about your childbirth stories, and about your solutions/suggestions for newborn sleep issues. And pretty much anything else you would like to share with us. I like your Wyoming post. :)

Wow, I am late to this party, but I love any post/rant about house space/homes, etc., and how people arrange their houses and make things work. I find it SO interesting and I usually get ideas.

I just want to say, I have four kids, and we live in what is technically a 2BR house (“technically” because we do have a study (that we use as a study but could possibly use as a bedroom in the future, maybe sorta)). I LOVE our house. And I cannot stand it when people get all self-righteous about how many bedrooms they think we should have. Makes me crazy. They either say it like, “Wow, you really didn’t think that one through” (even though we bought the house when I was pregnant with #4, and we were very deliberate in our choice) or like it’s really saaaad :( or, yeah, like they’re about to call CPS. It’s so dumb.
