Painting the Bathroom!

We chose a color! I was reading all your suggestions and comments, and then I got to Jen of Never Melts, who said she’d painted her bathroom ORANGE. It took about 4 seconds for me to be completely committed to having an orange bathroom.

I played around with Behr Color Smart, then went to Home Depot and got paint chips of the orange shades I liked best, then brought them home and looked at them a bit more and picked my favorite and we’re putting it on the walls today.

This is just the first coat, and also the lighting makes it look funny, but you get the gist, which is orangeness. It’s Orange Spice 250B-5.

I lovvvvvvve it. And since my towels are “one each of what was on clearance at Target,” they’ll go PERFECTLY. Blue! Green! Yellow! Pink! Red! EVERYTHING goes with orange! Orange is the new cream!

My living room is orange. Or burnt toast/terra cotta or some other such color and I LOVE it. Have NEVER regretted getting such a bold color. Strangely, I am very proud of you for getting a color not on the ‘cream’ palette.

OMG! I LOVE ORANGE, Swistle. Yay! I really like serious color on the walls — you won’t find a white or tan wall in my house. It kind of scares my husband though.

I suggested orange for our hallway (which extends down the wall into our living room) and he was horrified. He had impulsively painted all the doors and trim in our hallway kind of a drab olive green, and I insisted we needed something bright and warm to offset it.

My eye fell on our TiVo manual and I saw the bright orange on the cover. “THIS shade”, I told him. So we brought the manual with to the paint store and found a shade that matched. I call the wall color “TiVo orange”. (It’s the color of the V in TiVo.)

Even now, almost a year later, he will pause and just admire the hallway. He never expected to like orange but it is awesome, and warms up the whole house. Yay orange!!

I am not only a non-orange person, I’m an anti-orange person. But when it came time to paint our new playroom a year or two ago, I took a risk and chose about the same color that you did. After living with it for a while, I can say confidently that you will love it every day. It radiates happiness. Enjoy!

I have always hated orange and green. But then, I started loving green. And then I realized that my MOM hates those colors. Not me… I was just indoctrinated. I actually like them. REALLY like them. And a whole new world has just opened for me.

    It looks GREAT!

Clearly you and Jen are both geniuses. Geni-i? What’s the plural of genius? Anyway. Thanks for posting the name of the colour. That’s going in my laundry room. Don’t tell my husband.

I love that orange! Just like with the cleaning thing, where I need to do deep cleaning on the whole house at the same time you do, I also need to paint the bathroom. Paint it, like, right now. The current color is a dark cream (I know, right?) and because the flooring is brown-cream-off white, we can’t deviate too far from the cream spectrum. But I am VERY jealous of the orange! I just need to find a way to make it work.

Four seconds? You’re so brave. I could never have an orange bathroom, although I do like that color (better on the walls than the sample).

My walls are all some variation of cream, which I tell myself is because I can change my color schemes without hassle, but the TRUTH is, I’m a sissy when it comes to wall color.

Hooray!!! I had an orange bedroom for one year when I was a live-in nanny (they said I could paint any color I wanted, not sure they were prepared for what I chose!) and I loved it sooo much. Awesome choice.

    O. M. G.!!!! Zoe wants to come over to your orange bathroom. (I just showed her the picture which was a mistake because she, of course, asked: “Can I have an orange bathroom?!!” because, clearly, an orange wall in her room is not enough.)

BUT. She wants to know: do you have a yellow closet? :-)

LOVE the orange you chose! GO ORANGE!

    I love it!

My living room is that colour, and it is just awesome. We did the bathroom bright red, which I love, but it took 7 coats…turns out red is a hard colour to get nice and even.
