Sandals

My sandals, let me show them to you:

I got these from Lands’ End on a pre-summer sale for $29, and I’ve been wearing them all! summer! long! I love how shoe-like they are (my previous sandals had soles that were thin pieces of nothing), and how they don’t smell bad, and how they don’t make embarrassing suctiony sounds against my flat, flat feet when I walk. I love that the footbed is neither slippery-plasticky-smooth nor suedey-hard-to-clean. I don’t love the velcro, which is of course starting to curl, but I still love the sandals.

So when some of the colors went on clearance for $14.99 I should have told you immediately, but I hadn’t decided yet which ones to buy or how many, and I was worried that you would pounce on them and buy them out from under me, because I am a Sharing Person but not so much a Sacrificing Person. But now I have decided and ordered, and now I am ready to share. I’d bought the pink ones originally, and the green clearance ones (my second choice) weren’t available in my size. I bought the Coral Orange and the Gull Gray.

I would not call the orange ones “Coral Orange.” I would call them “Tide Bottle Orange” or “Target Clearance Sticker Orange.”

They are in fact oranger than I would like, but the pink ones dulled down from a summer of sand and sun and water, so I imagine the orange ones will too.

I super-love the Gull Grey ones: they should be called Gull Grey & Pretty Yellow, because the two colors both contribute strongly to the overall color of the sandal.

If you buy the Brown, which look like they should be called Brown & Target Clearance Sticker Orange, be sure to let me know what you think of them—I NEARLY bought them too but had to draw the line SOMEWHERE.

You totally deserve new shoes for all you’ve been getting done lately!

You were never in danger of me buying them out from under you because my feet are big&tall and they never have my size to start with.

It made me laugh that you had so many Target clearance stickers handy for reference. It is even funnier that you have a Tide bottle WITH a clearance sticker on it for reference.

    Very cute shoes.

I have a tide bottle orange t-shirt from Lands End – it was much brighter than I expected, but now I enjoy it.

I ordered a pair of the Gull Gray sandals – I’m usually not so impulsive, but they were a great price and I had a free shipping code here. I also ordered a swimsuit w/ butterflies on it which I hope will fit Harper next summer. It was marked down to 14.99, which is not a wicked sale, but I LOVE their suits and they hold up much better than a Target (or similar) suit, so I know I can hand it down to theoretical nieces someday. (Or hey, I’ll send it to you for E, who I’d guess is running a size or two behind Harper!)

The Target bottle picture cracked me up because it looks like there was some contortion involved…

Sharing vs. Sacrificing made me snort w/ laughter!

Also! I’m currently drinking a flavored coffee that is called chocolate velvet – the taste is fine but it smells exactly like hot chocolate, which makes it more satisfying in my book than normal black coffee.

To clarify – the coffee comment was made bc I thought YOU might enjoy the coffee… I reread my comment and realized how random that seemed. Like, Hi! I’m having coffee.

    I think I need more sleep! :-)

That is crazy about how intensly orange those shoes are (while also being super cute). I ordered a diaper cover for my son. The website said it was “melon”. I laugh every time he wears them. I call them his “hunting diaper”. They are safety orange. Not melon.

cute! I love imagining you taking the picture while holding your foot next to the tide bottle. that image is better that he picture itself.

I had a shoe frenzy recently with clearance colors on my favorite
super awesome flip flops!! I too had to draw a line. Or maybe I hid some from my husband, I can’t remember.

I just ordered the Gull Grey sandals. I am a sucker for good comfortable shoes. Plus, they have a promotion where you get FREE shipping on ANY size order. And I am a big sucker for FREE shipping.

If anyone else is ordering just enter the Promotion Code SEPT1 and the PIN 00001145 in the space provided.

Love those–I wore them to chaperone cub scout camp in the woods for a week and had no blisters, AND all the hardcore scouting moms who wore hiking boots got to be jealous of my cute pedicure. I RULE.

Also wanted to say–does the Sears near you carry Lands End? B/c at the end of the season, they mark the clearance prices down even further, like 40-50% off clearance. They explained to me (b/c I was in shock over the bargains to be had) that while the catalog does well w/ overstocks, they have a warehouse to store them in. Sears does not. So the stuff is the same price as the sale merch in the catalog but with additional saliva-inducing discounts so they can make room for the new season. It’s CRAZY. I’d live there if I could.
