Contest Tip

Little TIP here: the contests at the bottom of the list are newer, and have fewer entries. Better chance of winning!

Another little tip: if you mix sweetened shredded coconut with melted chocolate chips, so that the shredded coconut is fully coated (but still fluffable, not adrift in a sea of chocolate), and then you add butterscotch chips and fluff it up a little, and then you put it in the freezer—well, let’s just say you will eat more than you intended to eat.

Also: have you ordered from The Something Store? If so, would you email me (swistle at gmail dot com) and tell me what you got? I’m really trying not to place an order for what would surely be a disappointment (size 4 jeans! a dog toy! a book about physics!).

I’ve TOASTED the coconut first, then just added Hershey’s syrup, based on one of the desserts at Outback. (I just skipped the ice cream.) I didn’t think of putting it in the freezer, though.

I totally want to order from the Something Store, but I fear ending up with something we have zero use for and thus adding to the clutter around here. And paying for the privilege.

Also, now I’m going to have to resist stopping by the store for shredded coconut at some point today. Although it IS raining this morning, and I believe thunder storms are on the agenda for tonight. Might be a perfect time to toast some coconut and make something delicious!

If I don’t win one of these contests, I’m just going to make myself a winner by getting something from the something store – who knew that existed?

On the contest, though. I’m visiting all kinds of new blogs to enter, and am loving it, but am a little afraid I’ll miss figuring out if I’m the winner since it’s hard to keep track of all these new sites. Any chance people could e-mail you the links to their blogs once they post the winner, and you could do another run down list of links like you did for the contest itself? That way, we can click through and find those posts more easily. Just a thought. Cause you don’t have enough to do, you know.

C,S,C&E- Oh, good point. Hm. Must mull. I’ll ask bloggers to email winners, and maybe we can have a check-in where bloggers who haven’t yet heard from their winners can contact me. …Can you tell I’m trying to avoid the solution where I have to make a post with over 60 links to blogs followed by over 60 links to winners? Yes.

I would be interested in it for ordering gifts…I never know what to get people anyway…of course I would order something, it would come and be totally inappropriate in some way, and then it would be too late to go buy something else. But still…I want to know how well it works!

Hangel- I think a crispy cereal would be good, too, instead of the coconut: Rice Krispies, corn flakes, Special K, anything like that. Mmmmm….I gotta go see what we’ve got in the cupboard. Wonder if it’s still just Shredded Wheat and Cheerios?

I’m not familiar with the something store, but when I was a kid, we used to go to a fair where they would sell “grab bag” items for 25 cents, and we would love buying them for the surprise factor, even if we didn’t love the contents.

I’ve never heard of the something store — now I have something else to go and check out!

Also, am I the only person who is a little worried about winning multiple contests? I’m not really a lucky person, but it would be my luck that I would end up winning more than one — yikes!
