I buy a lot of Elizabeth’s clothes at The Children’s Place. It fits Elizabeth well; most of it is made for play (the skirts are stretchy, and have attached shorts); and they use the same colors throughout so if you buy a dark pink shirt and a dark pink patterned skirt and dark pink socks, the dark pinks will all match—and it will be the same dark pink as in the shirt with a multicolored pink/blue/yellow/green flower on it. Mix-and-match = teh awesome.
ANYWAY. I like to wait until they have their “take an additional 30% off sale prices” end-of-season sales, and then I like to have a coupon, too. Which is why I keep my eye on pretty, pretty Mir, who has the scoop on coupons and free shipping deals: right now you get another 15% off if you use Mir’s code.
Sale-waiting is always a gamble, and right now I’m wondering Why oh why didn’t I buy this tiered skirt when I had the chance? I was too cheap to spend $9 (I wanted to wait for the additional 15%-off coupon), and now I bitterly, bitterly regret it! Now they only have it in 18 months and smaller. HEART SADNESS.

Instead I bought these cute ruffle flare jeans, two pairs each of “pink” (they’re blue denim, but with a pinkish tint) and grey, $4.75 a pair baby!
And these cute hair bows in green and in pink for $.88 per pair! Not that Elizabeth will let me put them in her hair! But at least I can BUY them!
And some $3-ish shirts such as these from the baby girls section, for her to wear this year:

And finally—OMG could you DIE?—I bought her this smocked daisy dress for $7.73:
So I’m happy, and of course I’m already second-guessing: Should I have gotten the daisy dress in yellow instead? or in black? or in pink AND in yellow? Or should I have bought the gingham dress instead? Should I have bought more of those jeans in larger sizes? Should I have bought the yoga pants, even though she does not do yoga per se?
Well, nothing says there can’t be a little rematch later on. If you buy anything, tell me what you get: I’m highly susceptible to your influence, and I think it’s fun to match.

We have those jeans for the twins. Of course, even switching to a smaller size means they’re too long for them. But they’re cute. I LOVE the skirt. And it just so happens I have a $25 gift card there…..I sense a shopping trip.
Their clothes fit my son perfectly. My oldest is a different story~the pants are too tight in the bum and too long for her (even though she’s 7, she wears a 14-tall girlie). Love love love the clothes there.

I currently have a big ol’ cart full of sale things awaiting purchase at BOTH Children’s Place and Old Navy (stuff-and-save!). They are duking it out to see which one can get me the biggest deal, and once I’ve declared a winner I’ll let you know what I got.
(Although I will undoubtedly end up buying from both stores because I just can’t pick one awesome deal over another- that’s like asking me to choose between my kids!)
Also, Ilove the cute stuff you got for Elizabeth, and am a tiny bit jealous that I don’t have any little girls to shop for!

We have a few of the items pictured. I LOVE the jeans. CP’s clothes hammy down quiet nicely! Lila is now wearing Olivia’s CP ruffled jeans. Another pair will fit her next Fall. To top it off, a friend gave me another pair! Yippee! I no longer have to buy much in the clothes department. Between grandparents, friends and hammy downs, I’m saving a ton!
When I do shop, it’s mostly at CP during sales. Love love love their sales and their stretchy cotton is so wrinkle-resistant (I do NOT iron). Loved your post will add whatnot to my favorites.
I bought my boy a bunch of stuff for summer a few weeks ago and they were pretty good deals, on tshirts and shorts. BUT I also bought this super cute argyle sweater, in white and blue and yellow and it was – wait for it – $20!! I don’t know what in the hell I was thinking, but once I got it here and it was so super cute, I had to keep it. I don’t think I’ve ever spent $20 on one piece of clothing for him, in three years!
The saddest thing: I got the code from Mir and went to TCP website and started filling a cart, and then started thinking what my son needs, and then realized that because of his zealous grandparents, he really doesn’t need ANYTHING. AND his first birthday is in a few weeks, when I’m sure they will be even more zealous (first grandchild on both sides), so there is (sniff) NO NEED for me to buy any of those cute little, cheap little clothes.
I need a daughter. NEED. NOW.
Or, maybe I’ll just shop for one now, even though there will not be a baby for quite some time and even then, it might be a boy.

totally get the yoga pants. probably a couple pair. those are great for lounging but they’re not pj’s. BUT can be used for pj’s if you’re out and suspect she’ll fall asleep. they’re cute with all those little shirts and a little hoodie too.

My 2.5 yo daughter apparently has grown significantly overnight because it seems everything is too small on her now. And of course, all the store have their spring/summer stuff out yet it is definitely NOT spring/summer weather here yet. So I’ve been in search of some new jeans for her, but only found one pair at Baby Gap.
So what I’m trying to say is that your post was a GODSEND. I got her 2 pair of jeans, a pair of khaki capris, 5 shirts, a dress and 3 t-shirts for my son for $62! I’m amazed. Usually I don’t even bother looking at TCP because it can be a little spendy (even though I like their stuff and know it’s good quality) so I’m thrilled to be able to buy a cartfull!

Then my friend Astarte kept telling me about her massive, awesome hauls, and I started paying attention to sales—and now I’m hooked. HOOKED. Yay on your haul! Which dress did you choose? I had a lot trouble deciding.
SaLy- YAY! Great deals! Bake a batch of cookies for the husband—that’s what I do.
Eva- Get some in next year’s sizes! That’s what I do if I love, say, EIGHT shirts but don’t need more than four. I buy four for this year, four for next year.
I love these clothes, my daughter is six and we love going girlie clothes shopping together.
She has had a growth spurt recently, so that is a good excuse for some more retail therapy.

I LOVE Children’s Place. Lately, though, a lot of the stuff I’ve got from there says “gentle wash” on the instructions. Huh? It’s a cotton shirt, why does it need to washed on gentle?
Here is a totally unrelated question. My 2.5-year-old twin girls are wearing 4T tops now (also tall like Elizabeth) but 3T bottoms. Will 4T tops still fit them in the fall? I found a good deal at the local OshKosh outlet store ($2.99 warehouse sale!), but their shirts tend to run small, in my experience. So I got a couple shirts in size 5, thinking those would fit next fall, but they seem HUGE. After 4T, I get all confused about the sizing. Do I go for size 4? 4X? 5? Small?
Anonymous- OH I KNOW! There are two things I “OH I KNOW!” Thing the first: the “gentle wash on cold” thing. AS IF! I’ve been continuing to wash on regular and warm. Thing the second: sizes after 4T. I am SO LOST. I THINK it goes 4T, 5T (if exists in that brand), and then size 4. Many companies have a sizing chart that shows the inches/weights certain sizes allow for, and that can be helpful. As to whether a size will fit this fall—I’m in the same boat. Elizabeth is in 4T now, but should I buy 4 for fall? or more 4T? What I mostly do is err on the side of too-large, figuring those will at least fit SOME year. I bought her some 4s for fall.
How could you do this to me again? But the deals… the deals are unbeatable. And I know. I was just in the Children’s Place last week.
I bought: henley babydoll top in hint (pink), embroidered babydoll top in ray (yellow, the cute lace-trimmed skirt in both seaweed plaid (green) and ray, the smocked daisy dress like Elizabeth’s in yellow, faux-wrap knit dress in hint and striped polo dress in seaweed. I had one of the cute jean skirts on there too, but took it off because it made my total top $50. I think I like shopping for R so much because it’s much cheaper for her to be fashionable than me.
Ah, I just went crazy shopping for kids clothes at Kohls last night. So fun! I’ll try to take pictures. Is it sad that I think shopping for kids’ clothes is WAY more fun than for myself?
I was able to put Maddie’s “Never Crabby” shirt on her this week. I’ve been waiting a YEAR for her to wear it!

OH!! I love girl clothes! And I just have a stinky boy…boo! OK, he’s not always stinky…and I guess I kind of like him. But girl clothes! Ruffles! Bows! Butterflies! So cute!

Ok, so, as predicted, I bought both from ON and TCP. The ON one was nowhere near as good a deal, I only went ahead and bought stuff from there because for some reason I seemed to have a hard time finding anything good for my oldest son (almost 3 wearing a size 2T to 3T right now) at TCP. So most of what I bought at ON is for him: nothing too exciting, mostly t-shirts, nothing more than $7. My favorite purchase was some 3-6 month size onesies for Oliver, that had better fit him… ;)
I did much better at TCP- 17 items for a total of $77, including adorable monster rain boots for $5.94, the twill newsboy cap for Oliver for $2.37 (so cute I COULD DIE), and a Valentine’s graphic tee to fit Oliver next year, $1.78, as well as lots of onesies and rompers, none more than 5 bucks.
Oh, and I satisfied my jealousy of your cute little girl purchases by buying for my sister’s baby (she was due today! but alas, no baby yet) (whom she’ll be naming Myla, btw): the pink striped polo dress, $4.75, ruffled knit pants for $2.97, and a few of the lace trim henleys, also $2.97.
I really really wanted to buy that faux wrap knit dress in hint but they didn’t have it in my daughter’s size! She has this pair of boots that would have been so adorable with it.
I loved The Children’s Place when my girls were little. I wonder if they carry clothes for older girls…say around 9?
Ooh, I’m jealous – I wanted one of those butterfly shirts but they didn’t have anything bigger than 24 months the last time I checked.
I made out really well at a Children’s Place recently – I got that same blue flowered shirt with a matching skort, a couple nice bodysuits (and just at the point when I had completely given up on finding bodysuits that still fit) and the lace-trimmed henley in red. I got a blue headband that stays on for about 4.3 minutes until it gets pulled down for playing peekaboo and then gets dropped on the floor. I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t spend much money on it.
I tried going into TCP several times last year and never found what I was looking for, so it was a bit of a surprise to find so much great stuff this time. But I was totally won over. The girl’s clothes are generously cut and seem like they’ll wear well. And of course, it doesn’t hurt that they’re so unbelievably CUTE. I have to wait a week before I can afford to buy anything more, but when I can, I’m going to do my best to complete K’s summer wardrobe. They have a couple really cute dinosaur shirts in the boy’s section I have my eye on.
Susie- I think they do—or at least, my 9-year-old boy is wearing stuff from the boy side, still. He’s in size 8-10 and L, and there’s still 12, 14, and XL to go.
For my 12 month old, I got a smocked plaid dress, green yoga pants, a ruffled henley top, and a pink striped polo-like dress. ALL FOR 30 BUCKS!
So much cute stuff. *sigh* I wonder if my nieces need any more clothes…

Oh, that DRESS!!!! No, the pink is perfect. Yellow wouldn’t show the flowers enough, and black is too grown-up. Oh, for the days when my two fit nicely into CP clothes. Their .99 sale is so amazing! Their boys’ section is really small, though, and their big girl section rarely has good sales on things people actually want (however, cheetah fur-lined sleeveless jacket were there by the bucketloads – gee, I wonder why?!?!). I did splurge and get Chloe a black daisy-patterned skirt with that netting stuff poking out from under it and a pink sleeveless dress with white ribbon curly-q designs on it and matching shrug sweater. It’s so hard to find nice dresses for pre-teens, I feel like I should snatch them up when I can!
Astarte- I’m SO JEALOUS: we don’t get the 99c sale at ours. It goes down to “additional 50% off sale prices” and then there’s nothing left anyway.
