You can make guilt free brownies by combining Devil’s Food Cake Mix(just the mix) with one can of pumpkin. Put it in a pan and bake it according to package directions. Very lowfat- be careful, if you eat the whole thing, you WILL poop… a lot. I’ve never done that.
Trader Joe’s has a delicious low-fat brownie mix that you mix with vanilla yogurt and bake. They are awesome, but I usually ruin the low-fat part by eating way too many.
I would say don’t worry about it. A little slip is normal. I recommend keeping a bar of high quality chocolate somewhere out of sight in your house and letting yourself have a square or two each day. Deprivation of something you’re longing for might lead to binges. At least it does with me. Plus, dark chocolate is filled with antioxidants! It’s health food.
If I were in your kitchen right now I would help you by eating the rest of those brownies.
If I were in your SHOES right now I would be playing a game of making the last piece “even” so that it’s a clean line in the pan….that would involve me eating the third of the brownie that is now exposed on 1 side or cutting that straight line all the way to the other end of the pan…again to make the line “clean”.
If it were one of my thin friends she would tell you to either QUICK dump salt and stuff all over the rest of the pan so you don’t eat them.
Just drink an extra cup of coffee today. You’ll be so jacked up on caffeine you’ll burn off those calories in no time. (Hmm, this answer came to me too quickly. Maybe I myself use this little trick too often…)
OH GEEZ! You’re killing me! These look great and I’m on a diet too…. Maybe if I look at them enough it will be like eating them and I won’t feel like I need them anymore… yeah right! Ugh.. I hate diets!
I would make a very witty comment about how impressed I am because there is just one healthy sized brownie missing from the pan. But I can’t do that, because I’m no longer here…I’ve gone to make brownies…
Ha, it’s funny I just posted about my weight lose goal. I had to start with a few little steps and a big exercising every day rule. I’m still eating cupcakes and bad things. That’s what I need to stop next. It was just too hard to give up first.
This post actually caused me to SPIT OUT the virtuous piece of sugar free gum I was chewing in favor of eating thin mints from my desk drawer. Keeping girl scout cookies at work = big heaping pile of unwise.
That cracks me up! We, too, had no success with the pumpkin substition. In fact, it resulted in the husband saying he would eat whatever I cooked on WW as long as I didn’t try to fake him out with dessert.
That’s IT?!! Oh Swistle, I must show you the proper way of screwing up a diet. The whole thing should be gone, that way there is no hope whatsoever of salvaging the calories you lost over the last two weeks.
Also, did you know that if you eat the entire thing except for maybe an inch by inch square, all of the calories will be tucked inside that little square and there’s no harm done? At least that’s the way it works in my head.
Well there it is. Big whoop. I bet they were good! Tomorrow you can go to the store and buy No Pudge brownies. At least, that’s what I did today cause um, yeah. Brownies be calling, know what’im’sayin’. When I put them in the cart, my two year old said (loudly) “oh mommy! oink! oink! pigpig!” Cause there is a little piggy on the box.
Also, have you heard of the diet coke cake? I guess you take a cake or brownie mix and add nothing but diet coke and bake. It’s supposed to be very yummy… I may have to try it out, for the sake of RESEARCH.
One of the times I made the brownies they were, as you say, gagtastic. My mistake was using actual brownie mix. They’ve been very good when I use chocolate CAKE mix. Also, make sure you buy the kind made for a 9×13 pan or multiple round pans.
My salvation is No Pudge Brownies. They have a recipe to make just one serving in a tea cup. They are warm and wonderful and stops me from eating the whole tray. Although I might make more than one serving.
I wish those brownies looked good… but the nausea is killing my need for food.
I guess I’m still pregnant. :D Doing better than the last time since my pants are … getting smaller and I have to time my eating to keep nausea at bay.
Hey, we had a pan like that! Only the empty space was even bigger. And then it got bigger and bigger and . . .

MMMMMM.. My pregnant arse could finish the rest of the pan with you over discussion about how I have no CLUE what to name my baby. LOL

um, YUM.
Need help finishing them so you don’t have to eat the whole pan yourself? Just trying to help you out, you know.
I KNOW! I just ate two peanut butter/ chocaloate chip cookies! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Lets play three variations of IF
If I were in your kitchen right now I would help you by eating the rest of those brownies.
If I were in your SHOES right now I would be playing a game of making the last piece “even” so that it’s a clean line in the pan….that would involve me eating the third of the brownie that is now exposed on 1 side or cutting that straight line all the way to the other end of the pan…again to make the line “clean”.

Oh no! Although, it DOES look delicious. Still! Throw/give the rest away! One little slip is not the end of the world.
Umm.. I wish I was at YOUR HOUSE right now… All I have is those Snackwells FAKE COOKIES!
Ha, it’s funny I just posted about my weight lose goal. I had to start with a few little steps and a big exercising every day rule. I’m still eating cupcakes and bad things. That’s what I need to stop next. It was just too hard to give up first.
Hey – that’s not so bad. There’s more than 75% of the pan left. I consider that extreme will power.
Oh dear.
Most of the pan is left, so all is well.
And mh’s comment…HA!
This post actually caused me to SPIT OUT the virtuous piece of sugar free gum I was chewing in favor of eating thin mints from my desk drawer. Keeping girl scout cookies at work = big heaping pile of unwise.
Ha! That’s my “Diet, Day whatever.”
MH- I tried pumpkin-in-brownies before, and they were so gagtastic they resulted in 99% non-eating success rate.
Cass- It’s obvious you and I are very compatible. (Using salt would probably cause me to discover that brownies + salt = UNTOLD DELICIOUSNESS.)
Jess Loolu- I did it! I gave almost all the rest to my parents, saving out two for the kids’ after school, and, um, two for me, which I ate.
Zoot- Not so much “extreme willpower” as “taking the picture before the evidence was complete.”
That cracks me up! We, too, had no success with the pumpkin substition. In fact, it resulted in the husband saying he would eat whatever I cooked on WW as long as I didn’t try to fake him out with dessert.
Oh snap — those pesky kids got into the brownies! ahem.
Who the heck could blame you? That looks damn yummy.
It’s not easy, is it? But that was one eloquent post!
Don’t you just hate it when brownies appear in your oven out of nowhere!
Anyway, you gave me a good laugh!
Well there it is.
Big whoop.
I bet they were good!

When I put them in the cart, my two year old said (loudly) “oh mommy! oink! oink! pigpig!” Cause there is a little piggy on the box.
Ah, he’s so cute. And so right.
Ha ha ha- I love how you “whoops” mixed up a pan of brownies, baked them, and then ate them! That’s my kind of “whoops”- totally premeditated! =)
Also, have you heard of the diet coke cake? I guess you take a cake or brownie mix and add nothing but diet coke and bake. It’s supposed to be very yummy… I may have to try it out, for the sake of RESEARCH.
If you top a brownie with some ice cream then the added calcium will make it healthy, right?
i really did just eat mac & cheese and wine for dinner, so i’ll just stay quiet over here…
Damn brownies.
I posted a whole stupid story about damn brownies.
But oh! so good.
Oh, this is ALL in the way you look at it. I think a “BRAVO!” is in store. At least you aren’t taking a picture of an empty pan.
Great now I’m hungry.
Such an eloquent picture! So funny!
The pan isn’t one quarter empty, it’s three quarters full!
Marie Green– OH I KNOW. The crime was totally committed as soon as I started melting the chocolate and butter.
oops. STILL – there are a LOT left so at least you stopped before real damage was done.
One of the times I made the brownies they were, as you say, gagtastic. My mistake was using actual brownie mix. They’ve been very good when I use chocolate CAKE mix. Also, make sure you buy the kind made for a 9×13 pan or multiple round pans.

That looks really yummy. Is there any left????
I wish those brownies looked good… but the nausea is killing my need for food.
I guess I’m still pregnant. :D Doing better than the last time since my pants are … getting smaller and I have to time my eating to keep nausea at bay.
If I were going to cheat, it totally would be for brownies. Only I wouldn’t have stopped at such a small piece. Hooray for your superior willpower!

That looks like a pretty taste ‘whoops’.
