Tease

Ug, you are all TOTALLY RIGHT: it is AWFUL to bring up some sort of huge emotional issue and then be a complete TEASE about it. I would HATE it if someone else did that. I’d be like, “Either spill it or shut it, sister!”

I’m sorry I ever brought it up at all! But trust me when I say it is the kind of thing where if you knew what it was, you’d just be like, “Oh. That.” It’s just one of a number of well-known issues people fight about and kill each other over: @b0rti0n, h0m0sexu@lity, what should be done about the envir0nment, cry-it-0ut p@renting.

It falls into that category of topics that pretty much everyone has a strong opinion on, and even if everyone loves each other and swears to be nice about opposing points of view, it’s basically impossible. It’s no one’s fault, it’s just a topic people really, really care about, and I myself have been known to hit the ceiling if I read even one of the “nice” remarks that tries to be diplomatic. It’s such a dividing topic, people THINK they’re being fair and understanding about it, when actually they are demonstrating a TOTAL LACK OF UNDERSTANDING ABOUT EVEN THE MOST BAS—–

Sorry.

I will TRY not to tease anymore. I know it’s dreadful, and I hate when other people do it.

It’s your blog, I think you can keep it under wraps if you want to. Besides, I don’t want you to hate me if I fell on the other side of the issue, so I am glad that you aren’t sharing – since I am sure that I would say something and then we would just have to be in a fight. And that would be bad, especially so close to your rough patch with your boyfriend Target.

can’t you just tell us the name of it and disable comments? Such a tease you are. That said, I’ve come to peace with my big issues and I still judge people in my head where I’m allowed to! There are a few things I just feel THAT strongly about and do not even enter debates about it.

What if you tell us what the issue is, but not where you stand? Because, for me at least, I don’t really care where you stand, I just want to know what it is. And then, just in case people are ASSES after you’ve already told them you don’t want to discuss it (not ME, of course, I’m not asking for discussion), disable the comments.

OR, not even this particular issue. How about a post with a LIST of topics you refuse to ever discuss. THAT would do it for me. Just knowing that it was in that list somewhere would make me happy.

Of course, at this point “JMC’s happiness” may be at the top of the list.

Ok, I’m feeling like I can keep reading over here without the threat of future teases ;) between this and the kid names I was starting to worry.

    But now we’re cool.

You know I’m kidding right? you were my blogging hero over the holidays when the internet shut down and you were the last blogger standing!

Oh Swistle. I love your blog and your teasing. Whether it’s saying everything but what’s harshing your mellow or showing your wedding photo but NOT YOUR FACE, I still come here.

Going through that list of topics (because I fancy myself a detective–hahaha) I am wondering if it is the same hot topic that really irritates me when people are on the other side of it because it is so obviously simple to be on the right side of it…which of course, is my side of it. In actuality, there is a message board where I am able to rant about it at lengths with other people who are on the same side of it as me. I may be totally wrong but I feel better. ;) Actually, like I said yesterday, I made the mistake of spilling it and almost immediately regretted it.

There is something to be said for teasing. It explains why there are entire websites dedicated to movie trailers! Not that I’D ever waste my time with such a website…*cough*

Laura- My guess is that practically every single one of you would be on my side in this. Um, because I like all of you, and if I like you you MUST agree with me on this!

    Bub & Pie- NO COMMENT.

Delurking to say I was completely absorbed with trying to figure out what the topic was too hot to discuss, lol. So, at least you gave me something to think about while being bored at work.

You are a tease. Like the cliff hanger of a show that ends up being cancelled and then you never know what happens.

I totally get what you mean though, did you see what happened in the comments on Catherine Newman’s blog!?!?!? Crazy! Avoid that at all costs, I say!

Man, I feel sort of weird for not really um…feeling very curious about what the issue is. I have those too, those things which make me mad no matter WHAT side others are on (even if they are on my side, they will probably make me angry because their reasoning is wrong, etc). (Which is sooooo logical.)

We forgive you. I’m with Maggie, it’s your blog, so you do what you want. If you want to tease us, then damn, I guess we’ll just have to suck it up. But that doesn’t mean I am not DYING to know what topic makes you hit the ceiling.

Also, what calender did you decide on? I had a great suggestion but I’m afraid it’s too late. It’s this one, put out by the agency I work for:

It’s got little tidbits about what the wild critters are doing thoughout the year, what native plants are flowering, who’s migrating to where, etc. I love it. And the photographs are spectacular.

I say keep it under wraps! Good for you. We’re all entitled to Hot Button Topics, and I think it’s wise to keep the Hot Button buttoned up. Haven’t we all had enough ridiculous, emotional arguments with family members during the recent holiday? No, just me?

Heh! It’s hard to know when to draw the line when blogging….sometimes I want to spill EVERYTHING, but then I remember that anyone could be reading, even someone I know….and I haven’t told many real-life people about my blog.

Oh Yes. I have my own Too Hot Issues. I am learning (very slowly) to just not say anything sometimes when they come up. Because otherwise I risk the boiling point. Which….just isn’t worth it anymore. (see? I’m getting old too!)
