PRESENTS!

Lookee my presents!

The picture I wanted so badly from Black Sheeped’s Etsy shop. The light caught the protective plastic funny so the mat looks faded/splotchy but it isn’t. (Kara Marie, it is EVEN MORE WONDERFUL in person. I’m so relieved Paul was the one who bought it! Whew!)

This cute 3-pack of L’Artisan perfumes. MMMmmmmm, FRENCH!

Pretty pretty earrings I started hinting about after seeing them over at Shannon’s blog.

Books books books, because I love books and our local library is small.

This awesome “secret hiding place” book Paul made. He’d filled it with those round, gold-wrapped Ferrero Rocher chocolates, but, um, I eated them.

What did you get?

That secret book is AWESOME. How did he do it?

I got a food processor! Red Sox World Championship shirt! Borders gift card! It sounds lame when I list it like this! The photo essay works so much better!

Tessie- I gather there was some geeky internet instruction video. It involved cutting the pages out a chunk at a time with an exacto knife, then treating the page edges with a glue solution to make them solid.

What will you PUT in that secret hiding place, Swistle?

    Hmmmm. Interesting.

This year was by far the lamest, most ridiculous holiday, really. We’re all sick here and for the holiday I got..

    A night with NO SLEEP.

So technicall, it’s still Christmas to me…

The New Girl- HEY, I got the night without sleep thing TOO! (Henry got a new tooth and a cough for Christmas.) I think next year we’d better be more specific on our Santa Lists.

I’m not sure what I’ll put in that hiding place. Nothing I want to hide from THE INTERNET, I guess!

I got a theremin (instrument)from DH. Not sure how I feel about this as I think it was really for himself disguised as an interesting gift for me. In fact, he’s probably at home playing with it while I am here at work, um, “working.”

I also got Barnes and Noble gift cards, CDs, slippers, an iPod Timex watch, a Chipotle gift card and a 10 year journal (my favorite gift, actually!)

Ooh, those earrings are absolutely gorgeous! I’m a bit in love with them, which is huge because I haven’t worn earrings in years.

I got an early morning wake-up call from my sweetie’s family on the east coast, and a dog with tummy troubles. Fun! Fortunately we got snow yesterday afternoon so we had a white Christmas which magically made everything feel better!

I also got an adorable little coffee press that I don’t know how to use. I have no idea how much coffee and water to put in, and I am in dire need of caffeine.

So the question is: what book is the secret book? (Dictionary? Edgar Allan Poe anthology? Thesaurus?) It’s got to be something to REALLY put off the robber/small child/random stalker…

    French perfume? OOH LA LA!!!

I got some books, some CD’s, really good lotion, some questionable jewelry, and some gift cards. Hub and I decided that we weren’t doing gifts, except for from the kids, but then he was a bit miffed that I didn’t actually get him anything, since he gave me the kitchenaid…..back in November.

Whimsy- You know what would be awesome, would be some book on FEMALE ISSUES. NO ONE would want to look in there. Oh. Except maybe teenaged boys, hoping for pics. Well, maybe a home fix-it manual. NO ONE consults those. Or, oo! A baby name dictionary! ONLY I would look at that!

Ooh! I bought that P0rn for Wimmins book intending to give it to someone for Christmas and ended up keeping it for myself. And then showing it to my sister and my mom when they visited and all of us snorting unbecomingly with laughter.

Have you read other Sweet Potato Queens books? Because they are AWESOME. At least, that’s what I remember, since they seem to have all migrated over to my sister’s house, about 10 states away.

Elizasmom- I kept reading aloud from PFW at Christmas and everyone was laughing. What a fun book. YES, I’ve read the other SPQ books and really like them! I own the cookbook / financial planner, the book of love, and god save, and I read the wedding planner / divorce guide through the library.
