To Do List

Guess who has 254 posts in her RSS reader? No, guess! YES, IT IS ME! So if you are thinking to yourself, “Why is Swistle not commenting on this post when it is about the very things she normally can’t shut up about?,” that is why.

You know how sometimes all the joy has been wrung from the universe and nothing is left but the dirty rag squeezings, and there is nothing fun to do in the whole world? Well, I am the OPPOSITE of that right now: I have about fifty tasks to do, most of which are fun and interesting. I need to cruise Etsy and and make my Christmas list. I need to decide if I’m going to order some expensive perfume with my own money (Paul and I get allowances–is that too cute for words?). I need to eat a bag of Raisinets. I need to experiment with yummy coffees for a SundryBuzz post. I need to go through a bunch of funny photos I took of the kids. Sample shot of William and Rob:

I need to do some online shopping for Christmas presents. I need to finish watching season 3 of Angel. I need to go through a year of archives and move the sensitive stuff to a new blog I’m calling Swistle Confidential (more on this later). I need to finish Scarlet Feather by Maeve Binchy. I need to take photos of all five kids until I get one good enough to go out with our Christmas cards (who dares me to send out one like the one above?). I need to read those 254 blog posts. I need to do a load of laundry, which sounds boring until you realize it contains a bunch of new clothes for the kids. I need to show you THESE JEANS:

Are those TOO FUNNY? Size SIX MONTHS, baby! They are almost as wide as they are tall! Little square jeans! Target’s Cherokee brand, 50% off, $3.98. So obviously I also need to go back to Target and buy more jeans. Oh, woe is me, a trip to Target!

Don’t forget to shop at the TCP. Their huge sale started and they’ve got great prices, I just placed a huge order today. Sale only lasts today through the 25th. I also got a 15% off flier in the mail, which I assume you got, too.

I’d LOVE to get a Xmas card with a picture like that on it. At least it’d be real!

I love me some Etsy… and some Target… and some mini jeans.

But I must say, all I can think of when I look at those pictures is – “Those kids aren’t really Rob and William… that one’s not really Henry…” It was all so much easier when I just thought those names were the real ones ;)

How can you stop reading a Maeve Binchy book once you start? I can’t stop until I finish the whole book! Then again, I don’t have kids. =)

I was just thinking, hey, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the older boys….I’m with Shelly, at least it’s a real photo.

And baby jeans, could you DIE from the cuteness? I sure could. Oh no, I think I just did!

I’ve been wanting to do a post about how I triage my Reader, but every time I think of it, it gives me the nervous tummy. Do you go in alphabetical order, or some other system? A have A System. Maybe I will grow the balls to do a post on it. Probably not.

Happy Thanksgiving! I sound like I’ve already gotten a start on that coffee post!

I have so much to say about this post! From the bottom up:

Oh my god, the jeans! They are KILLING ME with their cuteness.

I am SO EXCITED about Swistle Confidential! I was feeling very sad that you deleted some archives that I never read, that I want to read. So I’m glad to know they’ll be elsewhere. But are you worried about using the Swistle name? Because if someone who knows the name of this blog Googles it for whatever reason, wouldn’t they find the other blog? Or when you say you’re “calling” it Swistle Confidential, do you mean that’s your code name for it right now, in your head?

I’m glad that you are looking forward to your to-do list. That’s such a rare feeling! Have fun with the coffees! And the allowance!

    Have a great Thanksgiving!

I LOVE jeans on babies! I have a sister-in-law with wealthy parents who only dresses her child in fancy-schmancy stuff. I just want to say, “Put some jeans and a sweatshirt and some sneakers on the kid. He’s just a two-year-old little boy, not Little Lord Fauntleroy.” :) I’ll see her at Thanksgiving, so I’m dressing my baby in jeans, a long-sleeve tee and pink high-tops, just to see her cringe. :) Well, actually that’s the baby’s typical wardrobe.

You know what Swistle? I got through the whole post and thought I had a lot to comment about, and then I saw the picture at the end and forgot about everything else. Can I borrow him?

Oh yeah, and if you want me to taste test those coffees for you, and let you know what I think so that you can translate into Swistle-ese, I’d be more than happy to do that for you. Really, I’d love to help, it’s no skin off my back. :P

    Heh! Square jeans!

Also, I believe you should let Target and Children’s Place know you are soliciting business for them. Just how many women here have rushed to one store or the other after a tasty Swistle post? Me, for one. Although I could not find any of those skirts you showed, damnit.

Ok those jeans are almost as the ones I have for C, which have the added benefit of little pink flowers embroidered on the butt.

    Target, sale? Eeep!

I think sending out Christmas photos like the one you posted is a grand idea. I mean, how many people get photos with a neatly combed and washed family, dressed in their best and offering stiff ‘can we please get this over with already?’ smiles? I’m sure funny faces would be a welcome change.

Those jeans are so adorable! As for Christmas cards, Little Elvis is donning a homemade white jumpsuit a la late ’70s Elvis and wishing everyone a blue, blue, blue Christmas. Why dress him up all fancy, when he’s much cuter in sunglasses and a pseudo white jumpsuit?

Shelly Overlook- I SAW that! Instead of working on my To Do List today, I was cruising the TCP website, looking for deals. I’m undecided. Elizabeth needs more long-sleeved shirts, but I couldn’t decide which ones to get. You should do a shopping post and say what you got!

Christina- I know! I, too, long for those simpler times. Would it help if I said the pseudonyms ARE the kids’ real MIDDLE names? My mom thinks I should reveal that, since it makes the names more “legitimate.”

Tessie- You MUST do such a post! I decree it! You don’t have to say WHO is sent WHERE by your triage, just that “some” go here and “some” go there. I sometimes do A-Z, sometimes Z-A, sometimes multiple-posts first, sometimes just-one-posts first, sometimes favorites first, sometimes favorites saved for last. I could use a system.

Jess Loolu- I’m going to call it Swistle Confidential and make no secret of its existence (it’ll be in my little blog profile along with the regular Swistle blog), but I’m going to make it clear to my real-life acquaintances that I want them to stay away from it, and trust them to do so. I figure some in-real-life people will go ahead and read it anyway, but then they’ll have to deal with what they discover.

Hello Insomnia- Color-coordination varies from year to year. Usually I try to find a green or red shirt for everybody, but that’s as far as I go. Last year, when I was pregnant and queasy, I didn’t have the oompf to plan their outfits and just photographed them all together in whatever they happened to be wearing that day.

Penny- TCP has a new sale starting today! I don’t know if I’m going to spring NOW, or wait for “30% off all clearance.”

I love the photos, those jeans about killed me!

I think I speak for everyone when I say we’d all like to see the Christmas card photo. All five at once, how fun!

You: “Would it help if I said the pseudonyms ARE the kids’ real MIDDLE names?”

Me: GAHHHHH! WHICH pseudonyms – set A or B?

I love baby jeans – especially with a simple little t-shirt. Also cute with a collared shirt and a sweater vest.

Lori D.- Oh! The original set. The ones I use for the blog. When I was thinking, “Hm, what should I call the kids?,” I went for their middle names.

I LOVE MB and Scarlet Feather was my first. I’ve read lots since.

I loved seeing the older boys and agree that I’d love getting a Christmas card like that.

Their names DO sound like middle names, now that you’ve said that. Like good middle names. OMG! Swistle, you’re killing meeeee.
