Vote: QUADRUPLET Baby Names!

Baby namers, TO MY SIDE. We have on our hands the kind of situation that makes my fingers go all cold and tingly.

Reader Casey nearly gave me heart failure by telling me she is 24 weeks pregnant and has QUADRUPLETS to name. Are you getting this down? EIGHT NAMES to choose, four first names and four middle names.

Three of the quads are known to be girls. The fourth is going to be a surprise–which is particularly appropriate because the baby itself was a surprise to parents already getting used to the idea of having triplets. Oh my god, is this not the most wonderfully fun thing you have ever heard of? I have been thinking of this ALL WEEK. Don’t you wish we all lived in the same town so we could sign up for shifts to go hold babies? Newborns everywhere, plenty to go ’round! Imagine the surround-sound wahing!

Anyway! The three known-to-be-girls have somehow already been named without our assistance:

Molly Claire
Paige Lilah
Jordan Kate

The fourth quadruplet, if a boy, will be named Chase Tobias. The decision on the table, then, is what to name the fourth quadruplet if a girl.

The current contenders for first name are Olivia and Addison. (I don’t know why “Swistle” isn’t in there. I assume it didn’t sound good with their surname.) The current contenders for middle name are Grace, Olivia, Addison. This gives you the following name combinations to vote on:

  1. Olivia Grace
  2. Olivia Addison
  3. Addison Grace
  4. Addison Olivia

We are voting here for overall sound of the name, but also for compatibility with the other three girl names.

But Casey ALSO says that they’re open to new name suggestions, so BRING IT!

Well, VOTE first. THEN bring it.

Ohh I like that name Addison. Very very cute! I would go with Addison Grace just because I also love the name Grace.

I also a fan of Keegan Anika (don’t ask where I came up with this combo I have NO clue!), Emerson and Kia. But

Addison is a lovely name so that is my vote today!!

I like Olivia Grace, but I think it’s because I knew a little girl named Olivia and she was just about the cutest thing I had ever seen. (as a side note, her Dad wanted to name her Olivia Jane so that he could call her O.J. I thought it was very funny–my friend, also the MOM did NOT.)

I LOVE THIS SITUATION! Oh my god, surprise baby when you already have triplets and then surprise SEX too? I’M GOING TO PASS OUT! CONGRATULATIONS CASEY! Do you live in Texas and can I come over?

I vote for Olivia Grace. Classic like the other three (beautiful) names.

Wow! Quads and they were a surprise? How fantastic! I’m so excited for you, Casey : )

My vote is for Olivia Grace. It’s so sweet and blends well with the other names you’ve chosen.

As far as blending with the other names, I would chose Addison Grace or Olivia Grace. All the other chosen names have 3 syllables total, so I think one of those would fit in nicely. They would be 4 syllables, but if you use Olivia Addison or Addison Olivia it gives you 7 syllables. Then that would seem like the longest name out of all of them, and to me a bit out of place. (And I love the boys name you picked as well as all the girls’ names.)

That said, my favorite is Olivia Grace. Congrats Casey!

Olivia Grace. It’s works the best with the other names. If you like the A, drop Addison and go for Avery (Avery Grace, Avery Oliva) because it sounds better with the other names rather than Addison–although I like that name.

Addison Grace for sure. . . I LOVE that combo. I especially think it makes a nice partner to Jordan, which sounds a little less feminine than the other girl’s names (not in a bad way). I think Addy is a very sweet shortened version of Addison, which may or may not turn you on to the name.

ooooh – Addison Grace is nice. Someone on here has an Adelay, which I also love and would work with the other names.

What an exciting situation for Casey. Best of luck to you and your family!

Okay, having voted I am now ready to chat.

Does she live near me in the good ‘ol south? Because I LOVE BABIES. I would happily offer mah services to a complete stranger if it meant I got to hold some babies!

And then, I almost peed myself a little, because, well FOUR BABIES! You know how much I LOVE BABY NAME DISCUSSIONS!

    SQUEEEE!

I say Addison…though my 8 yr old daughter is an Addison, who also goes by Addie, so I’m a bit partial. :-)

I think my favorite of those choices is Addison Grace.

    Congratulations, Casey! How exciting!

    I vote for Olivia Grace.

I like the others as well but I have three separate friends who’ve had an Addison in the last six months.

Oh! And please don’t forget to report back to Swistle an update as to what you decide.

I love the ring of Addison Olivia. Funny, but I know 2 Olivia Grace’s. That also is a beautiful name!

I also had a “surprise” twin pregnancy- I was 23 weeks when I found out! And then I was sure SURE they were going to keep finding more. So basically, this situation, while very exciting, was once my own worst nervous tummy!

    Congrats Casey!

OOhhhh I think Olivia Grace but I really love them all . . . I have to say congrats to Casey on 4 babies (holy cow) and also on really great name choices (good job!). I was kind of hoping there would boy names up here for me to steal though (wink)

I think Olivia Grace GOES the best with the others because it is simple and not too many syllables and also kind of MATCHES the others (but really you can’t go wrong with any of them!)

I like Olivia Grace, both by itself and with the other names.

Every time I call Scott after an ultrasound (I’ve had three), he says,
“What is it?! Did they find a hidden twin?!?”

First off, OMIG I would SO be having a heart attack if I was preggers with quads. I’m already hyperventilating and it’s not me. Second of all, how dare she have the nerve to go and naming three of them without first consulting us???
Vote: I vote for either #1 or 3. Two of my friends have babies named Addision, and I think Olivia is one of those classic names like Sophia (or Sofia) now re-gaining popularity and i have to say: I LIKE IT!
I am TERRIBLE at girls names. Boy names are much, much easier for me.
Just for the record though, my friend has a daughter named Kiley. I LOVE THAT NAME. She did it 12 years ago though before it was popular, and now in Sophie’s class there are like 8 Kileys and/or Kaileys.

PS – Congrats Casey and Omig I just…i dont’ know what I would do. Too funny this one was hiding…maybe your little trouble-maker?

Sounds like Olivia Grace is the winner thus far…

Ooooh… I visited the site and the graphic of four little babies bouncing around in the countdown globe is so cute. I like all the names but there seems to be a bumper crop of Olivia’s and Addison’s in this area which would have me wondering on maybe another name, although Olivia Grace is very pretty.

FYI, around these Midwestern parts, people would lovingly giggle at the parents of a girl named “Addison Grace,” because it would imply her parents were raving Cubs fans. Those are the names of the streets that border Wrigley Field. Seriously; it’s a standing joke in Chicago that dads-to-be who are Cubs fans are only interested in daughters named Addison or Grace. :) And I say that as a (depressed, of course) Cubs fan myself.

I vote for Olivia Grace…for 2 reasons: 1) it’s pretty :) and 2) it has six letters for the first name so Jordan could have a six-letter “buddy”, since Paige & Molly have 5 letters. I’m a teacher and I think about numbers of letters in a name when you have to teach them how to write it!

I vote for Olivia Grace. I think it fits perfectly with the other names. This post leaves me wondering for the millionth time why girl names are so much easier than boy namees?!?

Also, is Casey going to take our vote into consideration when naming her fourth quad???

While I LOVE the name Addison I also like Grace and Olivia. I think that of the options Olivia Grace is the best choice, it goes well with the other already decided names and it flows well. Also I think this vote should count double since Casey and I have the same name taste, she is naming the first girl Molly and my girl is named Molly.
    Also Quads, WOW!

Olivia Addison. Classic first name, trendy middle name. Also, I think Jordan and Addison are too similar (‘en’ sounds at the end). Molly, Paige, Jordan, and Olivia go beautifully together – a variety of first letters, endings AND syllable-lengths.

    I vote for Addison Grace.

Addison b/c I love that name (and did BEFORE Grey’s Anatomy) and Grace b/c it’s my daughter’s middle name and I love it. I like Olivia Grace as well, but it’s so very popular right now. I actually know of three other Olivia Graces and I really don’t even know that many people, I swear.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the votes! It does look as though we’ll be going with Olivia Grace. I thought the same as one of the readers – If we go with Olivia, we have names that end with a “y”. an “E” a “n” and an “a”. For a while we were going to to with Paige, Molly, Addison, and Olivia as first names (get it? 1, 2, 3, and 4 syllables) but then we fell in love with Jordan, and we had to decide between Olivia and Addison!
What I noticed mentioned is that there seems to be an influx of Olivias and Addisons. Is this true? In that case, who wants to recommend some names? Put your favorites out on the table – we’re open to anything!
And yes, finding out I was expecting quads (triplets, even!) was a HUGE surprise! I mean, who expects that?! My cousin had spontaneous triplets 3 years back, and I would have had the same situation if I hadn’t also ended up with a set of identicals.
And sorry everyone who wants to come help out… I’m an arizonan!

Just to throw some out there on the table as alternatives:

    Stella
    Bella
    Calista
    Greta

My favorite would be Stella Grace. It goes well with the other three.

    Good luck!!

OK — I didn’t read all the posts so I don’t know what all the votes are for. (What? It’s dinner time and the children are hungry.)

I would switch Molly Claire to Molly Grace and if #4 is a girl I would name her Claire Addison.

Can’t wait to hear the decision!

How about Rhylee (Rylee, Riley) Joy? :)

Reminds me of when my ex MIL had her dog bred (she raised them) and it was going to have three puppies, but the fourth one was a suprise. She named it Bonus.

Casey- My original vote was for Olivia Grace. But then you said that thing about 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-syllable names, and I am GONE on that idea. I want you to do THAT. Is there any chance you would give up the name Jordan or the name Molly?

I love a little something that ties the names of multiples together. I don’t mean the Matchy McMatcherton names like “Karen and Sharon” or “Timmy and Tommy,” but more just a HINT of matching: same first initial or–okay, I admit it, I am kind of drawn to the thing where the twins are names starting with A and B. During my pregnancy I got so used to thinking of them as Baby A and Baby B, A and B started to seem like PART of them.

Your syllable idea is GREAT, and so subtle. It would appeal to people who like a little matchiness, without drawing the attention of people who are bothered by matchiness.

Ok. Olivia Grace is my vote. It flows nicely w/the other baby girl names. Notice that the 1st 3 girls names all have three syllables but no combination of Olivia/Addison/Grace have 3, only 4+. As I’ve voted I’ll now propose my suggestion: Karina Rene. Or Karina Laine. I like Anika that Welcome to our World suggested too!

I do like the name Addison, but I think Olivia sounds great with the other three names. And I am partial to Grace, since my Charlotte’s middle name is Grace.

I also really love the names Peyton and Avery. Just thought I’d throw those out there, too.

I’m going to second whoever suggested Avery Grace in place of Addison Grace, based on the whole equal-number-of-syllables things. Also, Lori D.- the Adelay is mine! And you even spelled it right! I will graciously permit Casey the rights to this name if she likes it! ;)

I don’t know HOW I missed this post! Crap! I doubt I’m too late though, since she is only 24 weeks!

I have an Emma Grace and an Addison Rose so I think Addison Grace is GORGEOUS! Just a wee bit biased though. I loved Emma and Grace for so long, even before I was pg and then when we found out we were having another girl my hubby picked Addison. But now, I have to admit I love the name Addison a wee bit more. (But not the girl…I love them equally, of course!)

Hooray!! So much fun, I can’t wait to see which one wins!
