Girl Clothes Follow-Up

When I posted the other day about girl clothes, and about how much fun I was having buying all these cutie little mix-and-match things from the spring clearance sale at The Children’s Place, there were requests for photos. Another post about baby clothes? You don’t have to ask me twice.

First, a photo of most of the haul. I’ve put an x over a skirt I returned. Do you know what that skirt was made of? Linen. I ask you. LINEN. Across what is roughly the top row of the haul, you can see a pink striped polo shirt (I later also bought it in blue), a white crochet-trim bodysuit, a pink floral hoodie, a blue embroidered hoodie, a round-collared white shirt, and a round-collared blue shirt (I later also bought it in pink). Across what is roughly the bottom row you can see a pink floral skirt, yellow pedal pushers, pink pedal pushers (I later also bought them in denim), a blue crochet-trimmed body suit and blue floral skirt, blue tights, a pink-and-white striped cardigan, and the returned linen skirt. If you look carefully you can also see in the lower right hand edge two little baby hands about to start yanking things off the bed. And if you are very sharp-eyed indeed, you will notice that my white-shirted tum makes a guest appearance along the bottom edge.

Clearly we need a runway model to show a few sample outfits. Here is Elizabeth wearing the striped polo in blue. She is wearing jeans because it was too cool that day for pedal pushers, but you get the idea of what the shirt would look like with the denim pedal pushers or with denim shorts:

And finally, in the blue floral skirt and the blue embroidered hoodie:

I’m so pleased with all the purchases. Everything seems made for a toddler who wants to PLAY. The floral skirts have built-in shorts underneath, and the whole skirt/shorts unit is made of a stretchy material. The shirts, too, have some stretch to them, so they don’t bind her when she tries to move around. The hooded sweatshirts have nice big zippers and the polos have nice big buttons, so I’m not messing around with eensy little things. The round-collared shirts have flower-shaped buttons, which I think is a nice touch.

And everything was $2.99, $3.99, or $4.99, plus I had a 15% off coupon. Nice. I’m kind of thinking I might buy some of my favorite things in bigger sizes for next year, but I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy repeats or not.

what a little model!! i love it!!

i’m horrible for finding something i like and wanting it in every color (roughly the same as buying things for repeats next year).

there is this sheer shirt over cami thing from limited 2 years ago that is very classy and work appropriate but also very nice for dinner out, etc. It can be worn with jeans, dress pants, capris, skirt, etc.

So what did I do? I bought it in raspberry. then I had to have the salmon. but oh wait, what about the cream? well i do live in east tn so give me the orange too. my, my, that is a beautiful shade of green and did you say it was on sale now? I’ll take it! Yes, 5 of the same shirt. But I do love it!

My opinion? I’d buy a few basics for repeats (a hoodie, maybe a couple of the body suits, the denim capris) and mix them with new things next year. i mean, you can’t pass up a sale like that!

Bunny: I get them to do that by wetting her hair before I ponytail it, and then after each pony is in I comb it around my finger.

Mrs. M: I do the SAME thing. In fact, this sale was a struggle for me because most stuff was available in four colors. I wanted ALL FOUR of EVERY ITEM. For the most part, I made myself stick to TWO maximum–but then went back and bought a third of a few things. But! I bought only ONE cardigan, so that gets me credit for a third of some other thing.

Wow, you made out pretty well. I’m sure it’s great fun buying for a girl. And this is probably the best age to do it…before she cares about what she wears. Because then you may not be able to choose things. Anyway, love the piggy tails! And my son (13 months) loved looking at the pictures. :)

Don’t buy too much for next year. Maybe one of the other colors. But you’ll want to buy new things next year when you see all the cute styles. ;) Just my opinion. I could see myself feeling that way.

Cute clothes and even cuter kid! I would buy everything I could find for such a sweet girl. I love Children’s Place-great sales and they skirts almost always have shorts underneath.

We just went shopping yesterday and I found shorts and t-shirts at Target for $3.99 a piece. It was great. Unfortunately we’d already acquired several more expensive things (which I love and therefore won’t return), but they had these comfortable shorts in about ten colors and then a rainbow of embroidered or patterned t-shirts to match.

I never get into Children’s Place because they are always in a mall -yuck- I’m not a fan. But your photo fashion show may be too tempting. We’ll have to try it when we’re looking for fall clothes. I love how E is hamming it up for the camera!

Kelsey: And the one at our mall has these tiny little winding aisles, as if they have no idea that many people shopping for baby clothes would have STROLLERS. I like their online site pretty well ($5 flat-rate shipping, which isn’t too bad), but when there are good sales it’s sooooooo slowwwwwww. I bought some of those Target shorts, too! Denim and pink. I wasn’t sure what the shirts would look like on the baby–you’ll have to do a little runway photo shoot, too!

cutie! I love the polo best. I like dresses, but my kid must be weird because skirts never looked right on her.

I bought the polo shirts too but they lost my order. Along with a cute t shirt that said “never crabby” with a picture of a crab. I am sad :(

I hate to shop there.. but I always love their stuff.

And thus ends this annoying and useless comment. I enjoyed gawking though :)

ADORABLE!!! I love the outfits, too. I can’t wait until Maddie can wear stuff like that.

Gerald says Maddie is just a great big doll to me. I guess that’s a little bit true. I love to dress her up and make her so cute it makes strangers clutch their chests.

She’s going to meet a lot of my family this weekend that came into down for my dad’s wedding. I’ve been planning her outfits for a week!

I think I may now have a cavity from the sweet overload. WHAT A CUTIE!!!
I heart the Children’s Place as well. I went last week to our store in the mall and was able to round out (2 pair of shorts, 3 t-shirts and 3 bodysuits) what Owen needed clothes-wise for the rest of the summer for under $50 (thank you 20% off coupon). I think they have such cute clothes for Boys & Girls and price-wise are really reasonable for the cuteness of the clothes!

Where are Elizabeth’s shoes from? Do they make something similar in Boy?

Trena: I got the little pink maryjane sneaks at Target, on clearance at the end of last…summer, I think. They didn’t have anything I liked for boys at the time, but I’m on the lookout this year because Edward needs new shoes: handmedown shoes don’t often last more than two boys’ worth.

Oh, look at her shoooooeeeesss….so cute! I love wee little baby and toddler shoes! And since they grow out of them in like fifteen minutes, it means I get to go out and get more on a regular basis!

And I, too, love to shop for the bargains…like last seasons little Stride Rites for $6.99 or tiny little Nikes for $4.99…

Absolutely adorable! You two had way too much fun with that fashion show! (I tried to get my 7-year old to try on a pair of capris the other day and got major attitude. Doesn’t she know the fun of new clothes?)

I love Children’s Place too because they *usually* offer a more variety of colors (you know me and my pastels) and they’re usually decently priced.

BTW: I usually buy my girls two pairs of sneakers. One cutesy, adorable pastel pair that I just can’t resist for “nicer” occasions, and a boys’ (or boy-like) pair to go to day care and play outside in.

First of all, she’s so cute and so are her clothes.

Second, does she ham it up for the camera already? If I didn’t read your other posts, I’d think she was one of those mysterious Always Happy Toddlers.

Erin: Sometimes she is a camera ham and sometimes she is Little Miss Go On And Try To Make Me Smile. I got smiles for this post by asking her WHO was wearing such PRETTY NEW CLOTHES?
